I wish they'd bring back dog licensing. They should also make dog training and socialisation compulsory. I know it would cost money but if someone really wants a dog they should be prepared for the financial commitment that it brings with it.
I wish they would bring back dog licensing too. A license should cost £50pa and include vaccination and spaying.

I have two tales to tell regarding weird reactions of dog meets me.
A, My elder sister had a family pouch, Corgi, family pet of around 8 yrs raised with 4 children never shown a nasty streak to my knowledge, met me many occasions never a problem. My old mum was dog sitting for them whilst they went on holiday, I called round at my mums, sat there chatting, all of a sudden the dog flew at me snarling like a good un. It took some getting off me.
B, Went into bar for a beer with Darren between chip shop opening times,.The bar dog was a well loved Rotty, never attacked but hey, this was me. We went and sat minding our own business round the corner from where the dog was chilling, was there around 20 mins when all of a sudden it came at me full guns blazing, ffs, I was sat next to a door and managed to get out of it despite Darren trying to push me back in to save his own butt.
Does this mean I am the devil and dogs detect me, or have i got some sort of voice that penetrates dogs ears and makes them attack?

I agree, and not just for the owners but for the dogs as well.

It showed me that certain dogs have a reputation and no matter how friendly I know my dog to be
extra care needs to be taken
.
I agree that it is not the victims fault, my posts were made from my mobile phone so some of the wording could have been better but as indicated above i know that its my responsibility to ensure my dog is under control.
I own a german shepherd, they can be intimidating and i dont expect everybody to understand at first sight if my dog is threatening or not. Many people who own dogs or take an interest in them could make an educated guess if they pose an immediate threat or not, however if you are not a 'dog person' by crossing your arms across your chest and standing still the balanced dogs that are just excited will soon calm down. Unfortunately what seems to happen is the total opposite, they shout and try to speak to the dog while throwing there hands around which only makes matters worse.
The situation explained where a dog continually attacks members of a village is totally unacceptable, the owner of that dog should be brought to justice. After my dog jumped up at the runners I changed how i walk her at night. I take extra care to hold her attention and keep her near and have had no further incidents. It is hard at times as the dogs attention can be taken by a runner, cyclist or squirrel but in the case of my dog if the person she approached crossed there arms billie would turn away and lose interest almost immediately, squirrels can normally get up a tree so they dont have to cross there arms...

Deaf by misadventure.
I took the rubbish to the tip today. I had two full wheelie bins, several cardboard boxes, some polystyrene, and a microwave oven that had decided it couldn’t go on after the Christmas rush.
When you go the tip these days, you don’t get to actually tip anything. In years gone by, you just flung everything out on to the floor, and a huge bulldozer would push it all into an enormous hole. It’s not like that now.
Modern “Tips” (Actually recycling centres) provide a separate skip for every kind of waste. The one I use has them arranged in this order:
Green waste
Wood
Rags,
Car batteries
TV’s
Plastic bottles
Plastic (Other)
Cardboard
Metal
Electrical
Household
Hardcore
Each skip is purpose built for it’s particular job. The Green waste & Household skips for instance, have an internal “Compactor” mechanism (Like you see in dustbin lorries) to squash the contents up and make more room.
The metal & Hardcore skips have open tops and “bat wing” type doors for easy loading and emptying.
The Electrical skip is just a big metal cube, closed on all sides, with a hatch, about 6ft square, set into the top. This hatch is left open so that you can throw your unwanted electrical goods inside, but designed in such a way as to discourage you from looking to see what is already in there.
In addition to this, there is a big sign, which says:
IT IS ILLEGAL FOR UNAUTHORISED PERSONS TO REMOVE MATERIALS FROM THIS SITE.
Of course, as I threw in the cream crackered microwave, I leaned across to have a look inside.
No wonder they made it difficult to see inside. There was loads of fascinating stuff in there. Car radio’s, computers, kettles, toasters, food processors, knitting machines, and games consoles.
There, sitting right on to of the pile, was a Sega Megadrive PGA Tour Golf cartridge. (Sega PGA Tour is the best golf sim ever)
“What a shame to throw that away” I thought, and, with a quick glance around to make sure no one was looking, I slipped inside.
No sooner was I inside than the lid slammed shut with a huge clang. I was in total darkness. I couldn’t see a hand in front of my face. I took one step forward, tripped over something, and fell headlong amongst the electricals. Then someone started beating on the side of the skip, (With a sledgehammer by the sound of it) KABOOM KABOOM KABOOM it went. It was so loud that my teeth almost fell out.
I suppose it only lasted for about 30 seconds, but it seemed like forever. I almost wee’d myself with fright. (Well that’s not entirely true, I did wee myself)
Suddenly the door opened again and the daylight flooded in. Dazed and confused, I untangled myself from amongst the extension cords and power leads, and carefully hoisted myself out of the skip. There wasn’t a soul to be seen.
Unsteadily, I made my way back to my van and drove around to the site office, where the staff (Who know me quite well) were taking a tea break.
I looked at them suspiciously through the window as I passed. They stared back, straight-faced.
At the very last second, just before I was completely past the window, one of them cracked up. This cause a chain reaction and they all fell about laughing.
I pretended that I hadn’t noticed, and drove away, dignity intact.

Have you ever tried an emulator for the PC?
