Very feasible Ralph. Except for the nesting bit (Too late in the season)
We used to make "funnel" traps for catching birds in much the same fashion.
BTW- You have finally achieved pin-up status.
I take it that means that "Uncle's" picture managed to get through the editors, fame at last.

Of course, do I write "To Auntie Julie from Uncle Ralph"?

No. You only refer to your elders as "Aunt" or "Uncle" So it would be "To Auntie Julie from Ralph" in this particular case.
BTW- By rights, you should be calling tikay "Uncle Tony".

I was attempting a funny reference to the title of the picture.
It will surely be Uncle Tony from now on.

All the girls have gone.
Unfortunately, I had to go to a mind-numbing meeting, and sit in a stuffy room listening to stuffy people.
Meanwhile, just a windowpane away, a heartbreakingly beautiful autumn morning slipped quietly by, almost unnoticed.

He just throws them in, now & then, almost casually. But I bet he fretted, fiddled, fiffed & farted with it's construction for hours, though. How great is that line?
We spoke this morning, & he was in a right funny mood, too. Not sure how to describe his mood.
Questioning
I suppose. Sadly, we had a bad line, so it never progressed.

I would have described it as more of a furtive, evasive, equivocating line myself.

Some eels are particularly slimy Ralph, if you know what I mean.
When I was learning to grope trout, my biggest fear was accidentally grabbing an eel by mistake. They would wrap around my wrist, and I couldn't help but jump up, screaming and dancing around, trying to shake them off.
There is really no need to panic though, if you let go of them, they let go of you.
I did get used to it eventually. (Especially when I realised that the eels were less scary than the water bailiff)
