Saw these guys perform last night

They were very impressive, and apparently one of the top Jazz bands in Nottingham.

It's Gypsy Jazz?

Is this just a label for the music or is it this the sort of Jazz Gypsies would perform?

Also do you think these guys have Gypsy connections, or they just decided to perform Gypsy Jazz?

It's Gypsy Jazz?  Never heard the term until now.

Is this just a label for the music or is it this the sort of Jazz Gypsies would perform?  I suspect it's just a label.

Also do you think these guys have Gypsy connections, or they just decided to perform Gypsy Jazz?  I don't think they have any Gypsy connections, (There are no indications in their speech or demeanour)

Great music though, (and I don't like jazz as a a rule).

I would say that it is probably called "Gypsy Jazz" because it mimics the style of "The Hot Club" which featured the French Gypsy jazz guitarist Django Reinhardt and violinist Stephan Grapelli in the 1930's.

Just reading Django Reinhardt's wiki' page and this bit tickled me as well as striking a chord:

He was known by his fans and managers to be extremely unpredictable. He would often skip sold-out concerts to "walk to the beach" or "smell the dew".

In some contexts, yes. When referring to Irish Travellers, who are recognised as a distinct ethnic group and have ethnic minority status.

I have access to a laptop & a calculator, but I don't know how to work out what percentage 23 of 64 is.

This is where going to school would have come in handy....
