Couldn't wait til tomorrow. So went on a nature walk this morning! Felt like 10 miles, it was probably 2ish considering the depth of the snow.. like all first time explorers i didn't charge my camera and the battery died half way round. fml. Saw Robins and Blue tits and a few random ones. Certainly healthier than laying on the couch, watching soccer Am and letting the missus bring me bacon sarnies. Gonna try putting a few pics into a vid and will post. Was good fun. felt like i was in Narnia, was climbing trees,
running
strolling through woods and all sorts, like being a kid again.
Good man, I've been doing that since a bit of a stay in hospital I've made myself up the activity that isn't based on lifting pint glasses.
Walking daily, with a wee dog to remind me & annoy me into it, and this spring summer I'll be back into the overnighters, wild camping with no tent, just a tarp, a kip mat & a sleeping bag - although the new fashion seems to be for hammock camping, I think the wee mutt would object. Getting into that has started me on the bushcraft (Ray Mears style, not Bear Grylls) and stickmaking, I've made my hiking staff, and am cutting better sticks to work on next winter. As you said, it's like being a kid again, but II can buy myself the cool knives, not be stuck with the little swiss army knife
Hardcore! I certainly wouldn't fancy that method of camping in this weather. I have a lot of camping and fishing equipment. Love fishing and my missus is a fan so we do a fair bit of that in the summer. She despises camping though, so i hardly use any of it. Although the first time we went it was one of the worst storms I have seen in the UK! Its a lot more fun with a few of you on the beers etc. Never been by myself tbh. Might be something to try one day. Love hammocks as well. Although the only time i have been in them is when I am in the sun with a cocktail in my hand.
Definitely not in this weather - fair (or at least not freezing) weather only. I do know of guys who camp in hammocks in the midst of winter - the hammocks have over & under quilts making it a big insulated cocoon for them. Still too hard core for me.

Tom, where was that Link that Geo posted, the make/model of his camera, please?
NIKON COOLPIX L120
http://www.argos.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Search?storeId=10001&catalogId=1500002951&langId=-1&searchTerms=NIKON+COOLPIX+L120
Thanks, Tom, though the link does not work for me. (My end, probably).
NIKON COOLPIX L120 here I come.
I have to buy a seperate, large, Memory Card, yes? Anything else? Batteries?
TIA
Yes. Larger card. Argos has bogof Sandisk 4gb cards on offer, get those.
AA batteries you can get anywhere. Buy a good supply of high powered ones or get some 2000ma or above (Higer numbers are better) rechargeables.
I would definitely recommend Low Self Discharge AA's if you can get them. You might see them marked as Ready To Go or Already Charged.
I've bought a few recently and they are fantastic compared to normal rechargables. Normal rechargables might lose 20%+ of the charge in the first few days even when not being used, after a few weeks they might be useless without a recharge. LSD's should keep 75%+ of their charge after a year. So you can buy 4, charge them, stick them in the camera case and you're always good to shoot.

Please try & Post on Tom's Diary at least once a month. I know you are used to better things, but it has its moments.

That link works for me Tony and you may possibly need it to get the half-price deal.
Thanks Ralph.
When I closed my PC down, the link I had clicked (20+ times) was "behind" the main tab, & it had opened every time. I spent nearly a minute closing them al down.
Internet Exporer 2 really is in need of an upgrade.

The press are calling her marriage to Bobby Brown 'tumultuous', is that a euphemism for wife-battering?
Unfortunately, this end to her life was somewhat inevitable after several decades of drug abuse. Tragic story really.

I see Tony has stolen my 'correspondents' idea. Ah well. They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery...
Joking aside, you have to admire how 'alive' his diary becomes as soon as he diverts his attention to it. When he hits his stride, you can almost see him working his audience, swaying emotions this way and that, scattering opinions hither and yon with a mixture of wit, humour, insight and innocence that everyone finds irresistible.
In some ways, he reminds me a lot of Samuel Langhorne Clemens.
(When is Halley's comet next due btw?)

(When is Halley's comet next due btw?)
"I came in with Halley's Comet in 1835. It is coming again next year, and I expect to go out with it. It will be the greatest disappointment of my life if I don't go out with Halley's Comet. The Almighty has said, no doubt: 'Now here are these two unaccountable freaks; they came in together, they must go out together."
His prediction was accurate – Twain died of a heart attack on April 21, 1910, in Redding, Connecticut, one day after the comet's closest approach to Earth.
(With thanks to Mr Wiki).
It is next due in 2061. I should be so lucky, lucky, lucky.....

Another 50 years or so. I wonder if Blonde will still be around? Will poker still be around?
Will we still go out in to real world or will we just live in little bubbles with a keyboard and mouse?
Will we still have keyboards and mice?
Oh man!!!! My head's about to pop!!!

My initial target is 90, and I'm gonna make it or die trying.
