So basically the broadsheet is a format that some publishers and readers persevere with for the sake of nostalgia and tradition?
Nothing wrong with that IMO. Bits of the past are what us oldies look forward to the most.
They are also very useful for going under the cat litter tray Tom

Excellent point.
I didn't think about the important stuff like masking up, wrapping fish & chips etc.

Sounds like there won't be many people to catch coronavirus from at Ankor Wat. Not sure I like the sound of cough woman, but cougb woman will be everywhere in a couple of months.

Hi Tom
I don't know if you are still planning to go, but I just saw this. From Thursday you need a visa to travel to Vietnam
https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2020-03-09/vietnam-suspends-visa-exemptions-for-8-european-nations
You can get an e-visa online according to the foreign office

Thanks Doobs.
We decided to cancel in the end. Not only because of the risk of catching the virus, (8 airports, a cruise and multiple tourist venues) but also because we think the whole experience would be compromised, especially markets, bazaars an public spectacle type things. Also the risk of being quarantined abroad and then again when we get home.
I got a supporting letter from my consultant and will try to claim a refund from the insurance.

I really don't think you had much choice Tom, hopefully the insurance company will see it that way too.

Think you dodged a bullet Tom. Some of the quarantine arrangements in Vietnam don't sound the best. Good luck with the insurers. Can you try the airline/tour operator first?

Was in for about 4k, got all the hotel money and 30% of the Mekong river cruise money back.
Only airport tax refunded from the flights though so till stuck ~ 3k.
On the face of it you would think we had a good insurance claim. We declared all pre-existing medical conditions, there were no news reports concerning the virus when we booked and my consultant advised me not to travel.
That said, it's an insurance company, so they probably won't just roll over.

I somehow doubt you will, either, knowing how difficult, argumentative, obdurate & downright stubborn you have been known to be.

I'm watching an archaeology programme on BBC4 presented by a beautiful posh lady who keeps mentioning Bronze Age ryndhyses.
I know it's just variation of an old joke but it tickles me every time she says it.

Beautiful pictures Dave. (Although I do worry about the fate of the jumping horse)
