Brilliant - they're extremely rare now apparently. The signal crays have got as far as Scotland.

I won't post you plans for a crayfish trap then

and you were the one arguing that you knew about kids(or could comment as insightfuly on the subject as any parent)

FFS, kids want an Xbox!!!

the kid might lie and exclaim: "yay, daddy got me a bird nest to go along with my encyclopedia and chemistry set" all the while itching to get round his mates Steve's gaff, who's parents actually buy him good resents, and play FIFA on the PS3 all day.

I saw a duck in a circus on stilts once, looked exactly like that.

was he doing a little dance with a cap in front of him? you shouldve put a couple of bob in, it's a top act! sad to see he's fallen on hard times though.

gets credit in my book just for being able to get the funny nose on.

Wow! That's a fantastic pic woodsey. According to Wikipedia, it's a saddle billed stork.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saddle-billed_Stork

Did you really take the photograph yourself, and if so, where? There must be a story attached.

c'mon though, seriously, is it just me then that was dissapointed when they got an "educational" or what i considered to be a boring toy?

The pont of getting a kid a "great" present IMO is to make them happy, you take a kid to toys r us and no way they are picking out a bird table or whatever it is.

It's a present that makes the adult feel good about buying their child a socially acceptable toy and all that rubbish, jeez, you dont get that many years as a kid before the harsh reality of the world comes crashing down on you and you become an adult, let the kids have some fun before that ffs!!!

This is a very good point, but there's a hole in the x-box strat. If your kid was a fat kid you'd think an ideal present would be a set of dumbells. But the dumbells would make the fat kid unhappy cos he wants a doughnut instead. As the parent should you buy a present just to make your fat kid happy or should you choose one that ultimately recognies your duty to the child's welfare? Nintendo Wii ftw.
