Lord Raab has kindly allowed me access into the Press Room which the Updaters are using.

It's right next to the table. (Once you've crossed to the other side of the bar. Gone through a door which has an access code thingie, up 27 stairs, through another door, then another password-protected door, then along a corridor).

Much respect to JungleCat & Dana's legs & lungs, 4 days of this would knacker me.

Looking at the 4 remaining players, they all looked relaxed & cool, & really, any of them could take this one down. Thewy seems to have changed his Tourney game when he makes Finals these days. He sat quietly for the first few hours, but is engaging the full yo gear now.

Julian will no doubt savage me if I don't mention a hand from earlier. I say savage, I mean look at me with sad puppy eyes and ask me why I left out his amusing bluff...

Joe limped from early position on 8/16k, Julian limped behind, Michael completed and Karim checked.

The flop came three clubs , checks all round.

The turn was the ...once again checking was the order of the day.

the fell on the river and checked to Julian he bet out 40k. Everyone folded and Julian flipped over two hearts! Hehehe, very naughty...

Tikay - thanks for the words of assurance. I was wondering whether the son and heir had gone middle aged and cautious, but glad to hear the yoyo is back. Pass on our greetings at the break please

An interesting hand:

Michael Bolger makes it 60 utg and Karim calls on the button. Both Jim Reid and Julian fold.

The flop comes and Michael checks. Karim bets a suspicious-if-you-ask-me 40k.

Turn - and Michael checks again. Karim now bets a maybe-he's-getting-scared 100k. Again, Michael flat calls.

River - the straight-and-flushtastic three clubs. Michael checks. Karim looks uncomfortable and checks too.

The hand is now over, and in the traditional manner Karim shows his cards  - for the flopped set. Michael disappointingly mucks. I'd like to know what he had that he felt the need to raise utg, because as soon as the hand's over, Julian comes over to me and tells me that he was holding A-3, which would have made two pair, and Jim was holding 4-5, which would also have made two pair. Had Michael not raised, it could have been almost home time by now. Sigh.

---------------- 45 MINUTE DINNER BREAK --------------

Chip counts right now:

Jim Reid -- 876k
Julian Thew -- 795k
Karim Louis -- 707k
Michael Bolger -- 517k

The finalists have a nice sit-down meal laid on; the updaters have nothing. Neverends, in the parlance. Off to scrounge sandwiches somewhere...

Here's a diagram of sandwiches, if that's any help.  Failing that, there's always the classy Marina Subway.

Thanks for the sandwiches, man. I feel I have rather misrepresented the casino's generosity, actually - it turns out that we were invited to the dinner they're all still scoffing, but by the time we realised that, I'd already got my coat, it didn't look like there was much room left for us at the table, and we'd already set our hearts on a change of scenery. We were beginning to feel like we live in here...

Anyway, an actually incredibly delicious plate of bangers and mash later, and we legged it back to Grosvenor. Tikay was wandering out of the front door, waving a £20 note. "Are we late?" we cried, "Have they started?" It turns out that they were nowhere near starting, but tikay had managed to eat some fish and chips down the road and neglected to bring any means of paying with him. He'd had to come back to the casino to (oh, for shame!) borrow money from Flushy. Bless.

Who is Tikay swearing at? (in standard schoolboy style). You would have thought he would be grateful that Flushy had lent him the money.

Mr Thew Sir, how are you? Long time no see.

Son & Heir is in good shape, worry not. He plays a bit slow early on in Finals these days, but then it's the old wham-bang-thank-you-maam stuff. He just ran an outrageous bluff with 7-2, so he's OK. And yes, he's gonna take it down. I did a TV "link" at 3.30pm this afternoon, just as the Final began, & told the viewers, there & then, that Thewy was nailed on to win, no worries. So he'd better.

Actually, I fancy some sort of business may occur Heads-Up, but Thewy'll get the trophy. Or Jim, who also really deserves it. Or Karim, ditto, or Jim, who's been a revelation. But mainly Thewy, 'cos he's the man. Jim Reid told me at the Break that he thinks Thewy is the best Tourney player in Europe right now. And I think he's right.

I appreciate you're trying to help Jen, but posting pictures of food doesn't help abate hunger. In fact quite the opposite. Do you spend your free time walking up to alcoholics  showing them pictures of bottles of beer you have drawn to help them?...if so, stop it.

As for the marina, you are quite clearly logistically challenged if you think that is possible.

Not all of us can simply clutch a handful of our hair and squeeze bacon juice out of it you know? That is your own unique gift! Glad you got back safe anyway.
