how common is it for a car to catch fire whilst driving along?
it's happened to me today for the second time in a few months, I assume this isn't normal and I just run bad at cars

Fairly common on my estate. Only slightly more common than houses, bins, cats, trees, pigeons...

Not very normal.
I do have a question though. Where do you put the petrol when you fill up?

the men at the petrol stations put the fuel in for us so I assume they put it in the right place as it's all they have to do all day apart from clean the windscreen and ask us for jobs. I do have to constantly stop them from putting in diesel though, they're determined to do it one day
both fires have been electrical and in different cars, only 1 of which I was driving so I'm sure I'm not entirely to blame. was rather disconcerting today when I finally figured out that the strange smell was linked to the large quantities of smoke billowing out from behind the dash into the footwell

Where did you get them from? Dealership, New, or were they from a private seller?

I would have folded on the first sign of smoke though
When you run bad sometimes you are merely playing bad.

Gatso-
I would think your odds at winning poker would be better than having TWO cars go up in flames!
I must admit, once I was driving a friend's car to work (mine had urgent needs and went to the garage earlier that day and I couldn't miss work - what a friend!)
The car lost power so I pulled off to the side.
As I was making a phone call I noticed sparks from under the engine (yes, it was turned OFF!). His beloved jalopy became a flame ball in minutes!
Funniest thing about that old jalopy -- it wasn't insured for collision, but it WAS insured for FIRE!
I ended up making him a profit, but I STILL had to get to work!

having seen gatso try and play poker i think your wrong
there is more chance of someone winning the lottery 5 times in 6 weeks than there is of gatso winning at poker

So with odds like that why dont you predict how many more cars are going to catch fire, and then problem solved?
