First hand we have seen to a river began with Craig Metcalf calling the 10k blind from utg.  As it inevitably does, starting a calling chain reacton.  Luke Patten called as did Jeff and Peter checked in the big blind.  The flop was:

Its checked to Luke who bets 25k, Jeff calls and the rest pass.

Turn:    check check
River:    Luke checks for Jeff to bet 50k and he passes.  100k extra for Jeff Kimber.

Thats it so far - all very cagey stuff early doors.

Nik takes the next pot down with a 24.5k button raise on Craig Metcalf's big blind.

The next pot and Nik raises again, whilst Charles Denton defends his big blind.

Charles checks, and Nik checks behind.

Two Diamonds

Charles checks again, Nik carefully picks out six yellow chips and two greens and puts out a 31k bet. It's enough, as Charles folds sharpish.

Blinds now 6k/12k with a 1k ante. There'll be a 10 minute break after this level, where they'll remove the 500 chips then two more levels then a dinner break.

Dharminder Buttar raises to 33k on the button, Aaron Berry makes it 56k more from the small blind. Jeff Kimber passes. Dharminder immediately throws out 103k more on top of Berry's re-raise, the latter's shoulders are violently shaking but he passes.

As I'm distracted by the presence of Dick Van Dyke and Diagnosis Murder on the TV to my left whilst writing that hand up (one of these days they should make Dick's giant moustache the killer, it would make better TV). There's another hand kicking off, as Luke Patten has raised to 35k, but Aaron Berry, perhaps hurt by the previous hand, sticks in a huge 200k re-raise which quickly sends all players scurrying for the hills.

Chili here - A couple of hands later Aaron Barry gives it another shot and raises to 32,000 preflop.  I don't know if they decided he is bullyable by now but Peter C reraises all in for a total of about 350k.  Aaron dwells and again makes a pass.

Luke Patten is looking a bit short now, having lost that earlier pot to Jeff and then had his raise snapped off by Aaron. He'll be looking to make a move soon, since he can't have much more than 10 big blinds now.

Meanwhile in a six-way limped pot between Craig, Charles, Dharminder, Terry, Nik and Peter, it's taken down on the two hearts flop by a 44k bet from Peter after the others all check. Aahh, the beauty of position.

Craig Metcalf and Charles Denton are also starting to feel the pinch alongside Luke Patten. Both are below 200k and any raise now would have to commit them to the hand.

Charles Denton just plain and simply goes all in on the button for about 150,000.  Luke Patten in the small blind says call pretty smartish with around 100,000.

Luke Patten
Charles Denton

Which means Luke Patten is eliminated in 9th place winning £6,460.

Terrence Owens limps, Craig limps behind him, Dharminder makes up the small blind and Aaron checks.

All check.

More checking. Boooring.

Checked to Terrence Owens who bets 20k, passed to Dharminder who calls, saying, "You've got me outkicked..." Aaron passes. Owens shows for a rivered straight. Dharminder flashes an Ace.

According to Mr Raab, Buttar qualified for this event for £25 here in Walsall.  Not a bad spin up, at LEAST £8,610 locked up now.

Dharminder Buttar just raised to 32k from the hijack. Jeff Kimber on the button and Terry Owens in the small blind called

Owens checked, Dharminder bet 40k, Jeff called and Terry Owens passes.

Dharminder bets 135k and Jeff moves all-in!

Dharminder gives it some thought, but it's clear to him and everyone else he's most likely beat and he folds. Jeff moves up to almost 600k on chips. I think between him and Nik Persaud, they have almost half the chips in play.
