What would you do?
Split or Steal ? Does the final prize amount effect your decision?

Whether it be 200 or £200,000 at the end. Anyone who steals is a complete retard.
The bird who stole it tonight should be shot directly between both eyes with the most powerful gun on the planet.
If me and another bloke got heads up for £100k and he stole after promising and shaking my hand that he would split, i would have no hesitation to be rather aggressive with him. on set and off set.

Watched it the other day and the bird diddled the bloke out of a 20k split, how he didn't punch her in her fat, deceitful gob i'll never know!

Was quite funny though given they had both been shafted on previous episodes.
Even a guy in the audience couldnt hold his laughter.

I would steal just in case the other player steals aswell, if not then I give them half backstage. Whats worse you both losing out of greed or them winning and you losing down to greed. I would just hope that the other player doesnt think like me.

realistically, you have to steal. think about this.
there are four possible outcomes
you win - opponent wins (split/split) - Good Outcome
you win - opponent loses (steal/split) - Better outcome
you lose - opponent loses (steal/steal) - Bad Outcome
you lose - opponent wins (split/steal) - worst possible outcome
In my mind, the worst possible outcome has to be avoided at all opportunities.
I cant believe there are so many poker players here saying they would split. what absolute shite...

If everyone steals nobody wins right? (have not watched the show)
So if everyone plays perfect no-one wins, you have to then apply game theory to realise that the best move is actually to split.

If you're looking at this as a poker player then why is outcome 4 any worse than outcome 3? What someone else wins shouldn't matter to the poker player - if you get nothing you get nothing, that's all there is to it. In fact, outcome 4 is better than 3, because you might be playing against Grier and he might give you some of his winnings. Unlikely, but worth something.
I'd agree though that the poker player should normally steal (ie it's more £EV to steal than to split). From this point of view the only time it would be better to split would be if you thought your opponent was almost certain to steal, and therefore Grier's potential backstage generosity (sounds so much like a euphemism for something...) was worth more than your equity in the pot, as it were.
Of course, if you were playing this not as a poker player but as the opposite, a human being, then the ideal strategy might be different...

I think this would be true if the game were repeated - ie, if you knew you were going to do this five times then you would have to split, because as soon as someone starts to steal the other will retaliate and noone gets anything. But if it's just a one-off and you can't be 'punished' in this way then I don't think this applies.
Steal and you get 100% or nothing, split and you get 50% or nothing. Your opponent doesn't know what you'll do and your decision has no effect on their decision. So you should steal.

I have half watched this a few times and it is one of the worse game shows EVER, it is just soooooo boring until the last 5 mins, you do get a pretty good "feel" about who will be happy to split and who wont. Im not sure what I would do TBH, I would probably split and hope the other person was honest enough to do the same.

i often watch parts of the show when i have dinner with my parents
my favourite show was the won where the guy said
"look i am going to steal and will split it 50/50 backstage"
double bluffed the guy and both hit split
