Seven players left in an MTT, blinds are 8k/16k and about to increase.

I have 140k, the low stack has around 90k.

I find KQo UTG and open shove..

Tecnically correct or should I have waited ?

Standard shove assuming the average was resonable

Yup i like the shove assuming the payout structure is standard for an MTT.

More than correct for me, I would push a lot worse than KQo in that spot (Im assuming you are going for the win?), mainly because you will lose more than 10% of your stack in the next hand if you dont. I'd rather shove with KQ in this spot than call with AK the next hand.

7 handed KQo is never getting called by a worse hand, but you have decent equity against a pair or AT-AJ. Obviously AQ+ crushes you but you dont run into them that often.

The 90k stack guy isnt going to call you without a monster, and some of the others at the table will be hanging around for him to bust before risking annihilation. I think you get away with it often and hit a winner often enough to justify it.

shove away, KQ easily good enough. this is one of those moves that people should do but most don't and it'll cost in the long run

Thanks for the feedback.

The shove felt right but I've been running so bad in tourneys that I was having some doubts.

I was somewhat reassured by the first reply though... Wink

Well I ran into a hand that I didn't want to see, AK which held, hence the self-analysis.

With an M of less than 6 your only option is to shove, but if called it'll probably be a big Ace or a pair. You're racing so would you rather do it with K2? If you dont see anything better through the blinds you are gonna be down to 116000 and M is 4.8 (if the blinds have just gone up). Wouldn't have been the worst pass UTG, but I'd have been tempted to follow your example.
