Just a quick shot of the Norwegian commentary, being carried out with aplomb by Sverre Sundbo.

i have as yet not been to ddt but it sounds a great venue

Yes, the best venue I've personally played poker in.

Much attention has been paid to the aesthetics of the place and it shows... It's beautiful to look at, sympathetically lit and overall very easy on the eye. Then there's the facilities; terminals where you can play online poker; nice smoking area, masses of space to actually play poker. Food? Excellent, wide variety of choice, puts most casinos (and even some restaurants) to shame. Then we have the staff who are efficient and friendly;  helpful, and often beautiful valets abound, ready to assist however they can. And I haven't even mentioned Simon Trumper who rushes around, making sure everyone is happy, solving problems and organising events with a flair and hunger for the job that is a pleasure to watch.

We've been treated excellently this week, but we are not alone in this. Every Norwegian I have spoken to is blown away by DTD and rightly so. Rob's vision of excellence has come to fruition and he has single handedly raised the bar for all future poker establishments.

Congratulations to everyone involved.

(I was not paid to write this btw!)

Erik Puts the Kjetil On...

Something other than the he actually had, when he minraised him on a flop.  Erik Borkvik raised from 100k to 200k, and it looked like he might have given his opponent second thoughts, but then the pot called the Kjetil back...

After that, they both checked the turn, and Kjetil Skau quickly checked the Two Diamonds river, slightly more slowly checked behind.  But Skau's Queens were good and won him a half mil pot.

The next hand Kjetil continues the aggression...

Kjetil riases to 60k and is called by Sondre, the two chip leaders going at it...

two spades ...

CHECK, CHECK...

TURN:

Sondre bets out 115k...CALLED quickly by Kjetil.

RIVER:

Sondre bets 215k, Kjetil shoves!!!!

Sondre passes reluctantly in the face of such a big bet - AK face up. and Kjetil takes down his 2nd consecutive 500k pot! Kjetil's steaming now!

Pass to Ian Frazer, who raises to what looks like 60k - it's his.  Then it's Oyvind Efraimsen's turn to pick up the blinds and antes, moving his short stack in on the small blind, with no caller.  After the last break, they have calmed down considerably, although with the blinds now 12k/24k ante 2.5k those without the luxury of million+ stacks like Barlien are going to feel pressure.

And again - Oyvind Efraimsen shoves it in yet again, but it's just over 220k and Stig Kveen finds a call, as you might expect, with
Oyvind shows:

Flop:  two spades
Turn:
River:    Just to put the housey icing on his outdraw double-up cake.  Nearly 500k for Oyvind once again.

Interesting background info on Stig Kveen, courtesy of InsaneTTM - he's the training partner of Norway's top skiier Petter Northug, who just happened to come for the event and was nearly wheedled back on the same plane as his friend on Sunday.  Rather than let his chips be blinded off, however, he rescheduled some stuff and built them into the stack he has now, Seven-handed on the final table!

The blinds are 12k 24k 2.5k...(worth nicking)

Pettersson makes it 70k and is rewarded for his aggression as he picks up the blinds and antes...( a whopping 53.5k at the moment)

The next hand Stig raises to 100k as it is passed to him, Sondre calls with c 250k in the pot...

FLOP:

Sondre checks...Stig bets out about 100k and takes it down...

The above are pedestrian hands in some ways, but you can feel the players are only holding their innate scandinavian aggression in temporarily and as the pressure rises, sooner or later, something will snap and all hell will break loose...

Marcus Pettersson raises on the cutoff to 70k, and Kjetil has flat called... only to find Ian Frazer Raising All In!  Both players pass and so far Ian hasn't had to show down a thing.  Simon has announced that Ian Frazer is donating part of his winnings to charity - the Tishi Yong Foundation.

stick it up it good

Sofa could you make perverse suggestions on another thread.

Sondre raises to 75k and everyone folds, so he picks up the blinds and antes.

Amazingly shortly after this, one of the blonde ladies watching from the rail strips down to her underwear, runs across the table sending chips flying all over the place, shouting "I love the way DTD air feels on my skin!" As she is restrained and led off the tables, Jen is overheard saying "about time we saw a big pair..."

Sondre pops it up to 70k and Borkvik shoves it in, using his bulgy eyes to push his chips into the middle *. All fold to Sondre who also lays it down, enabling Erik to augment his stack nicely...

The TV table has plenty of room around it, and is surrounded by cameras beaming the Norgesmesterskap i Poker 2008 all over Norway... I think the first guy must have lost rock-paper-scissors as to who got the good camera...
