Only been here a few days, but this was the view from my front door a couple of days ago, leaving here tomorrow to another island.

The flipper accent has got to be one of the most comedy ever, it's basically not possible to at least smile when hearing it, it's very pleasing on the ear. The hospitality I have been shown so far has been fantastic from the local friends I have made so far. Have just come back from a night on the hoy with a bunch of locals at the vidoeke around the corner from where I am staying.

Where were you staying? Where are you going next? (not jealous!!!)

Hi Graham, was on the Island of Siquijor for my first few days doing stuff as per my pm to you, had a great time but nothing else to report. Am in Dumaguete right now after getting the ferry back from Siquijor this morning. Have 3 days before catching up with my buddies, just trying to decide what to do with those 3 days, Bohol is looking favourite right now but will make a final decision in the morning.

Pets!!!!

Wednesday 28th March 2012

As you may have guessed from previous posts about some of the ‘culinary delights’ experienced in the Philippines pets are not that common.

I can honestly say I have never seen anyone walking a dog as we would here, I don’t even remember seeing pet food in the supermarkets.

That said there are plenty of dogs around but although belonging to people they are left to fend for themselves.

So you can imagine my surprise this evening when I woke up and Roxanne starts to tell me she has been given a dog, still half asleep I have no idea what she is talking about!!!

It transpires her best friend at home has a ‘breed’ dog (pedigree or as close as you can get) and recently it has had 2 puppies and she thought it would be a nice idea to give one to Roxanne (even though she’s not there), I an sure Mom and Dad are best pleased (another mouth we have to feed  Wink ).

Anyway I would like to introduce you to our new family member (so far unnamed so if anyone has any ‘sensible’ suggestions I would be grateful for your input).

Lol talk about a tale of two countries.

Am posting right now via the wifi on a ferry on the way to Cebu which I snap decided to go to instead of Bohol. The other flip side of the coin is I just had to use a pretty disgusting bog as I have the shits now and there was no bog paper, gg lonely planet guide Cheesy

Why is it possible to have wifi on a ferry but not a bog that is at least half useable?

Oh yes and while your on the subject of food, I got the gut rot from eating twice with a local family at their house. They could not have been more hospitable to me but I have to admit I really struggled to eat what was in front of me. I was being as polite as possible and pretending to enjoy the food, but I was close to retching a couple of times. This is the only Asian country I have been to so far where I am struggling to eat the local food. Am going to hold out on going to mcdonalds/Jollibee for the moment, there must be something I like other than rice and omelettes.  Sad

If we go out I tend to stick to fish, rice, vegs, can never be to sure what meat is going onto the plate!!!! lol at Jolibee - Filipino favourite.

Never been able to understand not using toilet paper, stats say 75% of filipinos dont use it, hence i always have a pocket full of the stuff when I go out.

Always fancied going to Cebu as they say it's really nice, have a great time and let us know how it goes.

Are you playing the APT in April - Manila?

Nah, my original plan was to play the APT but they changed the dates so I can't now.

I'm used to not having bog paper as basically everywhere else in Asia they have the water gun or at least a bucket of water to do the necessary, this didn't even have running water from the tap!  Angry Cheesy

No messing about we have a WINNER, Roxanne loves it, thank you Tom.

Trying to work out your thought process, is it because you believe he resembles Lucky Mcbride  or more like i'm thinking he is Lucky because chances are he won't end up getting eaten!!!!

Let's be fair.

A dog in the Philippines that ends up as a pet instead of a packed lunch is pretty lucky.

Ok we gotta be fair here, I gave flipper food a hard time yesterday but I have to give credit where it's due. They have invented probably the best junk food I have ever had the pleasure to eat. Ladies and gentlemen may I present to you the Jollibee hash brown burger

Also some pics of the food I was cooked by Cindy a friend of mine, this is the stuff I struggled to eat but had to and pretend to like it as she spent an hour cooking it.

This was the main culprit that had me nearly retching.

I'm still none the wiser as to what animal/alien this actually was  wasn't at all nice though.

I'm sure this would be fine if you like fish but I'm not a fan of most fish unfortunately

Pork omelette wasn't bad to be fair.

That said, with a smile like this I would have been polite and pretended to like whatever she made for me  Smiley
