Last Friday 31st August it was time for Roxanne to have her final scan, we are about halfway through now, everything went well baby is fine and Roxanne was well excited as this was the one where they tell us the gender of the baby.
In the words of the radiologist it’s got a wiener it’s a BOY

It’s my birthday

Friday 07th September 2012

Wednesday was my 51st birthday, as far as I am concerned just another day, but birthdays in the Philippines are major days and Roxanne wanted to celebrate as usual, we had planned to visit Sark for the day and then have dinner in town in the evening.

Because of more important things going on in our lives right now I managed to convince here that we would be better off just having a quiet day and saving the money as we both know it will be needed at home.

I worked the Tuesday night and returned to our room as usual Wednesday morning to find the door locked but I guessed what was coming as I could hear Roxanne chatting to the family online, what I didn’t expect when she opened the door was to find her stood there with a birthday cake suitably lit up with candles, I entered the room to be greeted to a chorus of Happy Birthday from the family, never fails to get me choked up.

The Group I work for about a year ago purchased another hotel on the Island and after extensive refurbishment it opened its doors at the end of April, at this time I spent a couple of nights there training there night team and in return they were kind enough to give me a complimentary Afternoon Tea voucher which we decided to use in order to celebrate my birthday, and very nice it was to, the sun was shining (doesn’t it always) and we sat out on the terrace and enjoyed our afternoon together just enjoying the views and relaxing……………………………..

Photo Shoot

Noting much to report, life goes on pretty much the same here. Roxanne is keeping well, 7 months now and still working hard.

One of our waiters is also a semi professional photographer(he has a studio at home in the Czech Republic), and asked if he could do some pics of us as pregnancy was not something he had photographed before, he has a friend here in Guernsey who is also a Professional photographer and has his own studio/shop and said he was able to use this. We of course were happy to agree especially as it was at no cost to ourselves so on Monday the shoot took place and these are the 1st pics he has done for us......

Any plans to head over next year all being well with baby etc? Guess it will be too soon.......

The plan is that we will go home hopefully within 6/8 weeks of the baby being born for a months holiday, the baby will remain with Roxanne's parents/sister and we will return here to work, this is a purely financial decision as with Roxanne's father needing ongoing dialysis treatment with have no other choice, and whilst it is far from what we both want as you know it is not uncommon for children to be left with grandparents/family in the Philippines.

Shit that is a BIG decision, more for you than Roxanne I guess where as u say its more normal, don't think I could do it  

Spent a fair bit of time with a girl on a couple of trips this year and she came to Thailand with me a couple of months ago. She was horribly homesick away from her family as she had never been away from her family before really. Don't think she could ever leave her daughter and I wouldn't even dare ask her to, so that's the end of that I guess, shame really, we got on well otherwise.........

Have you got her off rice 3 times daily yet lol?    Got to be steamed rice though, fried rice no good

Roxanne never complains about missing the family, but I know she does and I do wish that we were in a position to go home permanently! It helps I guess that she can chat on skype/messenger on a regular basis.

I don't think I have ever cooked/eaten so much rice before  fried rice is OK for breakfast as long as it has garlic added

I'm afraid I would have to ban rice before 12pm    And as for some of the nasty fish stuff they eat
