I have a great deal of admiration for both you and this thread taxibloke007.

Yes thank you. Everything went to plan. The flight from Manila landed one hour early and we got back to the Premier Inn at Gatwick around 5.30pm. Roxanne said Daniel was exceptionally well behaved on the flight which had been her main concern.

We had a basic but pleasant dinner and retired to bed at 10pm, Daniel thought it would be good fun to wake up  at  4am for playtime but he did go back to sleep.

The flight back to Guernsey was on time and we touched down at 11am. Dropped the bags of to the room and then paid a visit to the Hotel as everyone was keen to see Daniel..............and Roxanne.

We are now back in the room and both Daniel and Roxanne are sleeping, it's been a long 60 hours for them since leaving home in La Union.

Let the next chapter begin..................

He isn't speaking properly as yet, although the words/sounds he is using definitely have an English sound to them so hopefully not, in his time in the Philippines Roxanne's family spoke to him in the best English they could that said the majority of the language he would have heard around him would have been Tagalog/Ilokano.

Old dog – New tricks

Wednesday 23rd July 2014

So we haven’t had a work update for a while but that is just to say life is pretty much the same day to day.

That said over the past year I have attended three external training courses run internally by the Hotel’s London HR/Training team. If you are one of the readers from the beginning of my tales you will know my previous feelings with regards to HR!!!

I have to say though the HR team within this company surpass anything I have ever experienced in all of my working career, they really are exceptional and this is proven as they are recognised by external companies as being qualified to deliver their courses for them.

The 3 course I attended were:

PTC Practical Training Certificate (3 days) – a course for training one/two people at a time. This was done here in Guernsey

AIM 2 (ambassadors in management) Level 3 certificate in Leadership and Management a 3 day course in London followed by having 6 months to complete a work based assignment and followed by a 10/15 minute presentation on the said project.

GTC Group Training Certificate again a 3 day course in London, very similar to the PTC but as it says in the title presenting training to a group of people.

Whilst I am the first to acknowledge that these achievements will not set the World alight what makes me proud is the fact that having left school without any qualifications it just goes to prove you are never to old!!!

The other thing that pleases me as much as passing the courses is the fact that even at my age the company feel it is beneficial not only to myself but to them also to have me attend these trainings something I really do appreciate............
