question for you Tighty.
superbowl III, the only one that the Jets won was the 1st one to actually be called a superbowl. what were superbowls I and II called at the time? were they world championships or something?
Tighty will probably correct me, I think it was called the superbowl from the get go. The newly formed AFL formed early 60's, champions played the older NFL (formed post world war 1) champions played each other for the first time in 66. The first two games were not close at all Green Bay won both but the superbowl 3 was a massive shock. At that point the leagues amalgamated to form todays NFL with the old AFL becoming the AFC and the old NFL teams becoming the AFC.
I have been a Dolphins since a pretty early age (about 5) after watching a game on
where the Dolphins beat the previously unbeaten Bears in a Monday night game. At the time they were a very attractive team with a shoddy defence, no running game but a brilliant offensive line, receivers and of course Dan Marino at qb.
My dad got me into it and he is totally obsessive about the sport. My interest has waned in recent years but got back into a bit last season.
spot on
dolphins got a lot of UK supporters as Marino was fantastic when
first started covering it in the 1980s
dolphins, raiders, 49ers, cowboys the four most supported teams by UK fans

bottom of page
refers to superbowl 1 as the "first world championship game nfl vs afl"
cheers, world championship was what I thought although I thought both I and II were called that, apparently not though.
good job you didn't get that one on mastermind.

nah, I deliberately narrowed it down to "the nfl in the salary cap era" ie the 1990s onwards.
Ship!!

nope, its a very very obsessive subject with a huge amount of stats (like baseball I suppose)..had to keep it realistic

ok, just found this
http://www.liveauctioneers.com/item/5265679
so superbowl 1 appears to have been called the world championship game and not sb1

Living in Vegas is the easiest place in America for sports betting but no franchise team in the 4 major sports.

For my sins I am a fan of the 49ers!
To say we have been poor the past few seasons is an under statement it seems like a million years ago since the glory years of Montana, Rice and co.

Go Bears!!!
Heard that may be changing in the near future..Jerry Buckenheimer wants to bring an NHL team there and I heard the NBA is considering it too..
As for me I don't watch it too often but know most of the rules etc and if i was to say i supported (loosest sense of the word) anyone it would be da bears...

BTW: i'm a 49ers fan. Seems like forever since the days of Montana/Rice/Young/Lott.
I used to play the game in the early 90's. I believe Tighty did as well, which is where his name came from..

i dont fancy any team strongly to win the superbowl this season, my bet will be on san diego, they lost there star running back with a injury late in the season, he only played a few minutes against new england in the playoffs just when they needed him,so with a bit of luck they should have a good season, i would not put a penny on new england this year, 7/2 is an awful price,i do hope i am wrong as i am a big fan of brady but i am waiting to see how brady plays this year, he did play with a injury during the playoffs but he took a lot of hits late in the season and played scared i think, he was missing wide open players throwing to early and not the same player he has been over the years, this may have been due to his injury feeling vulnerable but i have a feeling he will not stand in the pocket and throw the ball at the last second knowing he is going to take a bad hit as often ,i may be wrong as he was injured and he may get better protection this year.just think 7/2 is very bad price

Who are the worst 3 teams out of all 32 teams please?
We are all choosing a team to support each, as LeKnave said for next season, and i always like the underdog and hate the big boys, so i wana support a team that no-one else does, will hardly ever win, but will feel great when we do.
ty.
Also, When does the season start plz.
edit: hes just told me Miami were the worst last year and hes alredi shot-gunned them. fk my life.
