What a great bit of assistant refereeing, and also good to see the ref admit he was wrong and keep the player on the pitch.

Top class from the officials.

Was what actually happened not that the linesman has said the ball went out for a goal kick and so play didn't run to the challange? So in effect the linesman has had a mare because it was no where near out. Also if you lunge in like that I don't think you could have too many complaints for a red card.

Edit: I mean a second yellow to get to the red.

The commentary & analysis has been a joke on bbc and ITV the whole torn.

I think it has been worse on ITV, it really pisses me off watching football on ITV.

The reason he kept him on was because the linesman said the ball had already gone out for a goal kick, not because he said it wasnt a foul. The ball did not go out, so in effect it was a bad decision from the lino that has kept him on

Best I've ever seen, could you imagine Paul Durkin in that spot ?  Roll Eyes

ref signalled for a freekick didn't he?

didn't see him point to the 6 yard box for a goalkick, sure he pointed up the pitch

I've really liked Jim Beglin tonight - commenting on off the ball things, runs players make, that kind of thing - exactly what a co-commentator should do IMO.

Clive Tyldesley has been as shit as ever - when Holland scored my first thought was "I bet that prick uses the 'the future's bright, the future's orange'". Lo and behold, 0.4 seconds later, he did.

Ref went back and stood on the corner of the 6 yard box and pointed for a goal kick, just rewound it to make sure

I thought a free kick was given rather than a goal kick.  If that's not the case, then the linesman got it wrong.
