LoL that you couldnt skin up.

Not so funny, i wouldnt know where to start!

Next time you're stopped ask them if they have any King Size Rizzlas, if they don't just stick 3 normal size ones together and see how long it takes them to put their rubber gloves on.

they've been strict for a while, especially at the ports.  at least bringing it in on a plane you don't end up getting your car confiscated as well....

My mother was stopped by customs a few years ago and had all her cigs and alcohol seized as they did not believe it was for her own personal use when in fact it WAS. The reason they took her stuff was because she had some different brands. My mum cant resist a freebie and had bought some random ciggies because they had a free tshirt/bottle of whiskey/ice cooler bag with a radio LOL

I got on the case and after several letters and phone calls they backed down and she received a cheque for the value of the goods seized. They would not return the goods as they said they had been incinerated. I have a friend who lives near the incinerator who says there is a pub nearby where you can buy as many "cheap" ciggies as you want.

I think they stopped you because you looked gullible enough to smuggle something in for someone else...after all you believed this part;

"Funny thing is earlier on in the day on the way to the Spanish airport we had an English driver who used to work in London and knew a customs officer and said its kept out of the news but the seized goods tobacco/cigs etc arent destroyed as thought but given as gifts to new immigrants to the country"

So that probably means you'd believe a stranger coming up to you with the old "Hey mate, I want to give 2 kilograms of sugar to my gran in the UK..can you take it?...Oh..stay away from dogs at the Airport BTW" and you'd put it in your suitcase Wink

When I came back from Latvia the other week, the "arrivals from EEC" lane was blocked off so everyone had to go thru the "nothing to declare" lane.  I didn't actually have any cigs as my brand doesn't get sold in Latvia, but it rather annoyed me that customs were effectively interfering with my right to travel and buy goods within the EEC and return with any goods purchased unhindered.

Deffo no sugar for my Gran, as I got a letter from customs today stating "if any further detections are made which result in excise goods being seized...when found guilty of this offence you are liable to an unlimited fine and up to seven years imprisonment"  [ X ] you will get the full Sky package though.
