With a stack of 6,450 playing 250-500 and 50 ante, I obviously needed a big hand quickly. I got my wish as the second hand brought me a sweet-looking KK utg. Thought of the all-in, but action was preferred. Making it 1700 to play, only the bb obliges. The ace on the flop is a sick sight, even after he checks. I check to see what develops on the turn. I find it very difficult not to call his bet of 1500. He of course  sets me all-in for my remaining 3K after the rive- I find it difficult to call. He said he was surprised that I didn’t say “fck it” and push on the flop or call on the river. I said that I did say fck it, but fck it - I will wait. We both smile. Nice kid this Darren. If I ever wanted to adopt a son, he would be the one.

Both the blinds are unplayable and I find myself with 2,075 on the button and looking at the big stack of Gus Hansen raising again. His bet of 1375 is called in three spots before me. I find the value I want with my K-Jos. The BB joins the party and I wait for my destiny to flop. Three spades with a Q-T gives me a K- high flush draw and open ended straight draw.

Gus of course does his continuation bet and gets just one caller before I call with my remaining 800. The flush comes came and I went to a massive 10K+. Rich again.

Gus, with over 170K, was playing a lot of hands but it was going wrong for him. But when you stick it in from behind so many times, someone was going to get Gusted. A-9 does just that to Gus’s A-8. Unlucky man, but it was bound to happen.

Meanwhile, I have slowly built to 19K . I felt so well stacked that I couldn’t resist raising Gus’s BB with 9-7hearts. Of course he defended as expected. But I loved the 9-8-6 flop. But caution still ruled and I give Gus a free card. The Ten on the turn fills my straight and I bet 1K after Gus checked. Hold on, what’s this, a re-raise from Gus to 3K? With two bigger straights out there, I can do nothing but call his raise and then his bet on the river. One pair he declares. Up to 32K and sailing.

Thanks to Gus, we all move to the feature table and stay there for the next six hours. Not sure what hands they will show, but there was a few good ones. In the end, my small-bet poker and lack of any major hands or confrontations ensured that I was not in any danger. However, with only a stack of 58,200 and about half the average - that will no doubt change today. As Morgan Freeman said in Shawshank Redemption - “get busy livin or busy dyin”.

The outcome determines if another post is forthcoming!

Good luck to all the Brits

You are far more dangerous with 58k than the average player with 120k.  Crack on!

Nice going Peter.
You had a lot less than half the average at the start of day 2 but that didn't stop you building.

Gl and hope you go deep, BUT..

Dont like the hand you described though, calling 1375 of your 2075 stack pre, what an earth you do if it comes A 7 2, and uve got like 70% of your stack in leaving yourself with 700-800 whatever it is and blinds 250/500 (im going to get slated for this, but its what i think, sorry)

glgl anyways, gogogoogo. Keep it up.

It's the straight hand flat call against Hansen that makes me think (OHNO) but what can you do?
