Does it annoy you when your watching coverage and the commentator doesn't have a clue whats going on?

I am watching the mens weightlifting just now - commentator knows not much!

LONG Qingquan - very impressive in the Snatch.  I think there is another 3kg there easily wouldn't be surprised to se him break the world record at the next world championships.  And he's still only a baby at 17 years old.  He has just broke the junior world record and his technique and look remind me very much of the great Halil Mutlu.  Superb lifting!

Agreed mate.

I used to compete and won a number of tilties at National and British level but this is a whole new level.  I was in the 105 kg + and my scottish record and british junior records are only 5kg more than what this boy lifted in the snatch.  LOL - sick.  I don't know if I still hold the records last time I competed was around 6 years ago.  But its still sick.

LONG Qingquan very strong in the jerk, big weights there is he can come through the clean.  I think 160 could be his max here though but so impressive for a 17 year old.

Ohh the Vietnameese (sp) fella has a very strong C&J and was only 2.5kg behind in the snatch, could be a challenger for overall gold here.

still hate the swimming but what the usa just did was incredible. their B team just broke the 4x100 freestyle world record in the heat. they have 4 better swimmers to bring in for the final.

aussies in 2nd place in the same heat also broke the old wr with only 2 of their top 4 in the team.

french then react in the next heat by going within .1s of the new wr

brits take 5 seconds off the national record coming 4th to qualify for the final but kev will still think they weren't trying

actually having watched a bit of the swimming this morning I can confirm that kev is talking out of his arse, every brit I've seen so far has swam a pb with british and commonwealth records being broken all over the shop

No  I think they heard about Kevs criticism and realised they had to buck their ideas up.

Any medals we get in swimming now we can thank Kev for.

if people who didn't think they could win stayed at home you'd have about 5 people in each event.

mond, there is no way in the world that if you were selected for the olympics in something but you knew you couldn't win it that you wouldn't bother going
  i seriously wouldnt

Yes you would.  You'd also back yourself to win at the same time.

And thats how it should be, the first day was a joke and the after failure interviews were disgraceful, maybe someone fired a rocket up the swimming teams arses... and quite rightly so.

PB's and British records should fall at an olympics ... if you cant fire yourself up for the greatest show on earth then you shouldnt be involved in competitive sport.

Britain on two Golds - 2nd won in the pool! Decent race

Phelps is on 2 out of 2 but that was an amazing relay race. World Record smashed and last leg had to claw France back

Great stuff from our two women in the pool.  In that one race we've already bettered our medal-haul in the pool from the last Olympics.  Good finish to the race as well.
