OMG Adlington destroys the 800m field Cheesy

2 seconds off the World Record - 6 seconds! ahead of second place

She is at 2.54 to win sports personality of the year on Betfair, seems like a lock to me.

Emotional post race interview with Adlington.

Although Boooo @ the obnoxious 8th place finisher in the race trying to muscle in on the spotlight.

"Can I just say Queen, if you're watching, 2 golds, "Dame" Rebecca Adlington."
Big one sided hug
"She's my best friend"

I'd put some money on us getting another gold in the women's 3,000 pursuit cycling.

Good point.  I might put some money on that as well, just to cover myself...

at the start of the games I stated that I hated the swimming. well I've been won over. watching the adlington and phelps races back to back this morning was fantastic.

most confusing moment of the games so far, the track cycling points race in which we won bronze. wtf was that all about, no idea what was going on at all there

Think they all cycle round for a bit then the whistle goes and first 5 over the line get points. Something like that.

yeah, that's what it looked like but they also seemed had a side bet on who could lap the field but being 2 laps ahead didn't actually mean you were ahead  of anyone and you could lap people who were ahead of you. I might google it later.

wp just now mr wiggins, destroyed the kiwi, and a bronze in the same event too. go team GB

Tsk - the points race was simple. Each sprint gives points to the first four over the line, and if you get a lap ahead you get 20 points. Most points at the end wins, not who crosses the finish line first.

but as no-one is actually in the lead how do you know who wins the sprint when there're riders spread all over the track? riders who are in the process of lapping the field don't seem to be involved in the sprint, instead the points are won by people who are behind them. I guess I'd have understood more if I hadn't missed the start
