Seems fair enough river play from him as flop has lots of potential draws and none of them got there.

I've been the aggressor on the flop and as neither wanted to bet or raise I don't put either of them on a Q and most likely straight/flush drawing.  Surely the Q on the turn is the perfect card to continuation bet with from my pov?

From opponents POV 2nd Queen makes it more likely that you don't have a Queen, thusly more likely to call with 2nd pair or something like that.

ducttape not likely to have a Queen after his line of check call. We can't say this with the same degree of confidence about petje.

I'd prefer a Jack personally.
