End Of Watch
9/10 - Jake Gyllenhall as good as there is around at the moment. Would've got a 10 but for them tagging on the scene at the end.
Silver Linings Playbook
3/10
Jennifer Lawrence is fantastic and Oscar material as soon as she gets that right role but this ain't it. Loses impetus.
Please get Claudia Winkleman OFF Film 2012. Ta.
Just watched End of Watch, very good.

Saw End of Watch too, very good film. Followed that with watching 21 Grams. Not the most cheery day.

Seven Psychopaths
Well written very much in the same style as In Bruge which isn't a bad thing. Slow in places but the lulls were soon dispensed with. Colin Farell plays his part well but the performance for me was Sam Rockwell who even outshone Christopher Walken.
Overall 7/10

SkyFall
Finally got round to going to the cinema to see this.... enjoyed pretty much all round and Craig is just consummate Bond..better half thinks his way too cool and gorgeous..ahem..calm down love... But she's right..didn't rate the birds much TBH but action story all pretty much on the money..some background to Bond's formative years was good to see along with the usual crash bang wallop..and ofc the classic Aston.
As an aside decided to have a coke and popcorn at the cinema for the first time in years.... Christ never seen a bag of popcorn so big in all my life and the coke must have been nearly 2 litres..now i know what its like to be American
Too Cool..will have to go some way to top this 8/10
End of Watch
Not usually a fan of the hand held docu shot style of film..but this gritty cop movie was a good watch.... some eyeopening stuff even for this grizzled veteran... two uniform cops out on patrol of some of the toughest parts of LA gangland, one decides to film their days as part of a project as he and his partner come across the lowest forms of humankind, upsetting along the way some very nasty Mexican Cartels. We follow the partners lives both personal and out in the trenches that makes for a compelling film with a different angle that actually works
8/10

Cheers for this Bob, I love In Bruge so went to see this tonight and loved it. It could deffo have gone wrong and been a bit silly but they pulled it off IMO. Those performances and the dialogue, as was the case with In Bruge were the highlights for me.

The Hobbit
2h50m of meh-ness
Watch LOTR instead imo. I nodded off like Lalit with jetlag several times.

If you go to see The Hobbit, it needs to be in HFR 3D.
I'd given up on 3D films but thought I'd give this a go at 48fps and OMG it's amazing.
It seems odd at first, like watching a TV programme, but after a while you get used to it (which is ok as the first hour or so of the film is pretty meh) so by the time the quest starts and actual stuff starts happening it is simply jawdropping. The most gorgeous look to a film I've ever seen. The action matches it and the film really takes off once characters we're familiar with from LOTR turn up.
Dunno if it would have the same effect in 2D/shit 3D.
