Watched 'now you see me'.

Good cast, clever storyline and loads of time spent guessing wtf is happening.

Enjoyed it, not like anything I've seen, 7/10

Prisoners.

Very long and pretty dark, but worth the ride, and nicely twisty and turny.

Hugh Jackman and Donnie Darko both up to their usual standard. 6/10 for me.

Really only 6/10 ?

One of the best films I've seen in a long time, thought the script was superb, I can't think of a thing about it that I thought was weak.

At least a 9/10 for me, struggling for why I wouldn't give it 10/10.

I was gripped by the intensity of it.

Captain Phillips really disappointed me. It didn't have enough going on to get me hooked on what was happening, I think it just plodded along in a pretty boring way for most of the film with few really gripping scenes. It was over 2 hours too.

I thought it was like Argo in the tension stakes where with that too I was bored. However to give you something a little similar I really quite enjoyed was Zero Dark Thirty.

Gets a 5.5/10 for me.

Yikes Ant, I used to value your opinion! Didn't rate Argo or Capt Phillips but liked Zero Dark Thirty..  am I safe to assume you also like sharknado and Steven Segal movies?

PRISONERS

Hugh Jackman widens his range from ferocious claw wielding beast to a family man whose young daughter is kidnapped alongside her best friend..

Detective in charge Jake Gyllenhaal has a prime suspect..an oddball with the mind of a 10 year old... but with no evidence to link him to the abductions he is released.

Jackman is convinced he knows the whereabouts of his daughter and decides to take the matter into his own hands and get to the truth..whatever the costs.

What follows is an excellent well placed thriller..dark and sinister and with more twists and turns than a twisty turny thing...

Good turns from the main protaganists makes this one to make time for..

Hunger games 2 (or whatever it's called)

Bunked off work early and went to see it today.

mediocre at best, took a while to get going, the game was ok when it finally got going, but it had one of the most random abrupt endings I've seen for ages, I think everyone was looking around thinking 'wtf is that it?' when it finished.

4/10 wish I'd gone to see Thor 2.

Gravity was fantastic for opening 30 minutes and then it turned into a children's film. Action became completely implausible and drowned the audience in sentimentality. Better than most Hollywood films but a real waste of a remarkable premise.

This.

Might have liked it more had I not seen Captain Phillips a few weeks earlier. No way any movie can match that for the 'lost/stranded/helpless in an impossible situation' type of movie. You want Tom Hanks to survive, you're not really arsed if Bullock or Clooney do.

Just watched world war z

Enjoyed it actually. I hate horror films (why do I want the shit scared out of me?) and the couple of lame attempts at comedies with zombies in but this was really good actually. If like me you like decent action films with a bit of a storyline then you will probably like it.

Saving Mr Banks 10/10

I must have seen Mary Poppins 100 times as a child because it's my sisters favourite film. This film manages to catch everything that was magical about that film, while also telling an equally captivating new story. Tom Hanks and Emma Thompson are both amazing.

I have a feeling Hanks will be nominated for both Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor at the Oscars. He has managed to put out the best two films I have seen in years within a month of each other.
