I am disgusted than a man of your regard would reduce the magnum opus of one of the great directors to such terms.

Mods, ban this filth.

Sir Alec Guinness writes to a friend as he prepares to shoot Star Wars

Huge fan of movie history like this!

SPOILER ALERT IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THE BEST OFFER STOP READING NOW.

Trying to work this bit out, bare with me, when he's hiding behind the statue to see her, she answer's her phone and is flirtatious with the person on the phone, which seemed totally out of character and she says something like "Are you getting jealous that we are getting close" or something along those lines, who's she on the phone to then ?

I hadn't remembered the reviews itt so had no guide to it being rrr good, I had an incline half way through but was certain of it about 15 minutes before it did happen, good script though and good acting, 7.5/10 for me.

Watched There's something strange about Kevin, agree it's an excellent film.

Gripping stuff, I'd watched it half way through and thought it had only been on 15 minutes.

The writing and directing is truly superb, as well as the acting.

10/10.

Wolf of Wall Street - 8/10

If you are looking for a cautionary tale about greed, you don't get it. If you are wanting to learn about the world of trading, you also won't get that. Unlike a lot of rise and fall stories, the fall is not portrayed to be devastating, and at the end you kinda think it was all worth it. The villain won.

But that's real life unfortunately and what you do get instead is an incredibly funny and depraved three hours. It must have been the most fun movie in the world to shoot and Leo is brilliant in it. Its closer to Borat than it is to Wall Street, and as long as you are ok with that its brilliant.

Watched Filth yesterday. It is one of my favourite all-time books so I was both anxious and excited to watch it.

Quite enjoyed it, although I'm not quite sure it was bleak enough. James McAvoy did a decent job of portraying the sociopathic Bruce but it definitely could have been even darker. The book is very grim indeed.

Anyone else seen it?

The book has narrative from his tapeworm. It is both surreal and incredibly disturbing at the same time. They tried to capture that with the hallucination of the mad doctor but it wasn't dark enough. The book is incredibly hard going as you have to get to grips with the weird jumps in narrative, his hallucinations, and Irvine Welsh's Scottish brogue. Would definitely recommend it!

Locke

Saw a preview showing of this over the weekend (release 18th April).

Tom Hardy in a car, fixed camera and only interaction comes over the phone.
Unique idea, brilliantly executed and will do no harm to Hardy's ever growing reputation.  As Hardy is basically the sole focus for the complete 80+ minutes he has nowhere to hide and carries the film brilliantly - can't say much more without giving away plot twists.

Steven Knight writes and directs (Eastern Promises & Dirty Pretty Things) he is also fast becoming a name that quite clearly wants to do things a little differently - cant wait to see where he goes next, this is a very daring film and without people taking such risks we would all be watching Transformers or some such.

If you want something that is not standard holywood fare this is for you.

I think Tom Hardy is a superb actor, so will definitely keep an eye out for this. Thanks.
