I've been sacked twice.

First time I had small job washing up after some old biddies played bingo, (I was about 12 at the time) and I didn't do it properly one night and left all the plates and cups a bit dirty.   I'd been slacking for a few weeks so it was expected really.   Was quite gutted, that was a fiver a week down the drain - you could get a lot of sweets in them days for a fiver!

Second time I was manager of a well known video shop brand and wasn't really into paperwork and audits and stuff.  Anyway, one of my staff was nicking money and I never picked up on it, so they hauled her and me in for a series of interviews about it all and I ended up getting the boot for mismanagement of cash.   The tea leaf got the sack too, but she'd had the bonus of taking about £1500 with her.  That sucked too tbh.

I've been good since Cheesy

First job i had when i left school ... me and a mate got jobs at a factory which did nothing but metal pressing ... I lasted 1 week and 3 days of the most hideous workplace bullying imaginable before telling the boss that if i did one more day in this shithole, i would probably throw myself into one of the presses, but not until after i had put his head into one first ... he fired me and i walked out of the place to a round of applause from most of the other workers.

My mate still works there and now runs the place after the boss was eventually fired about 2 months after i left... he has been in that factory for 26 years !!!  I dont know how he does it.

When I was 16 my first job was in the Postroom of a large insurance company, i'd been there about six months and they had just moved to new offices and had planned a grand opening with the Lord Mayor of B'ham and other big knobs.
Anyway we had a long lunch down the pub and polished off about 6 pints went back to work and they invited us in to the opening celebrations where there was tonnes of booze, so spent another hour guzzling champagne and wine, then went back to finish our job for the day.
About a month previously a new lad had started in the postroom and it felt like he was trying to take over and was a bit of a big mouth, anyway to cut a long storey short he said something to me and in my intoxicated state I decided it was the appropiate time to drop the nut on him.  Got seen doing it and was sent home, I then got into the lift and they had just bought a brand new mirror with the company logo within which cost a fair few grand, still worked up I punched that and cracked it from top to bottom.
It was only when I had woken up the next day I remembered what had happenned, anyway had the balls to go in the next day but for some reason they decided to sack me in the afternoon.

once when i was 18, they trained me to be a stacker truck driver and i enjoyed the job and was never a problem, one day after they said i had to move to another department on 3 shifts, i was in a group at the time and life was great, this would mess everything up, as i started  before i was 18 i had not signed a contract agreeing to shift work, they couldn't force me to go onto shift work so i refused, because i refused to go on shifts  a few days later they moved me onto the worst job in the department and i knew they where trying to still force me to accept going on shifts , to be honest i lost interest and had decided to leave anyway, so didn't put the same effort into the job as i thought i wouldn't be bothered if i did get sacked, after a few weeks i was sacked without warning, it was a horrible feeling getting sacked, i dont know why, i was earning more outside of work so it wasn't the money, it was the best thing they could of done to me looking back ,i finished up in a well paid job i enjoyed ,but i still remember the feeling of getting sacked, not very nice, cant say i gloated but a few years later the factory closed

Work wise, the best thing that ever happened to me was being sacked.  Worked in sales and was head-hunted by Snap fax to sell ads into Corporate Snap fax (not the successful student version).  No idea if it ever took off but IMHO the whole thing was stupid idea and I couldn't sell a damned thing into it.  I was never really cut out for sales anyway and when I was sacked, I was absolutely gutted.  Absolutely turned my life around though and am now the data geek I always should have been  Smiley

Sacked once for refusing to accept a ridic change to the job I was doing (more laid off I guess), and sacked from my Uni industry year for moaning to the HR department that the job wasn't expanding/utilising my knowledge in any way.

My brother got sacked from the BT Postroom for (in a moment of high tedium) drawing a picture of a big pig with wings, and placing it inside an envelope with a letter of apology. The letter was intended for a customer who'd made a complaint about recieving too much junk mail from BT. It only got caught on the automated stamping and posting system when the package was (very) slightly overweight/wrong shape and caused the machine to stop. The manager caught the suspicious package, opened it, and was quite shocked to find a silly looking pig staring out at him saying something like "Oinkyeh! Don't worry, BT always knows best!!". I'd love to have seen the customer's reaction had they opened it Smiley

"James, what is the meaning of this?!?" the manager said. Pissed himself laughing, and admitted he found it funny, but said he unfortunately had no choice but to sack him.
