On a board of board, Harry Zammit insta-check-called a bet of 2,500 and then 4,500 on the river. Harry turned over , but James Morgan had him beat with .

"Unlucky," consolidated James, spotting the distinctly disgruntled expression on his opponent's face. "I thought you had A-Q, I was going to check the river if the jack doesn't come."

if it ends up womble against parker this could be the latest finish to a gukpt ever. If they do make it through to the heads up stage I will set the time on the finish being 3.40am-4.0 am (next thursday)

The very last hand of the night goes to Dewi James, who finds ACES and talks Raymond O’Mahoney into calling his all-in preflop bet of 15k.  “If I had AQ, I’d call!” says Dewi.  Raymond calls holding pocket 66’s.

A twenty minute break.

Four guys I think could make the final:

Sam Trickett -- 20k
Rob Sherwood -- 31k
Alli Mallu -- 35k (3k at level 3)
Julian Thew -- 40k

Jen is OUT. She was pretty concise in her exit hand.

"10BB, shove on the button with Q-9 vs table rock in BB, he snap-calls with A-K. Game over."

Julian Thew is the chip leader with 65k. Best tournament player in Europe at the moment?

Last month's winner Sam Trickett is up to 40k after knocking out Colin Wu. He called the Wu button raise and then check called 2k on a three clubs flop before check/raising a 5k bet on the turn to 12.5k. Wu moved in with and Sam quickly called with a skanky three diamonds which held on the river and puts last month's winner among the contenders.

Life is sweet.

Soon after returning from a twenty minute break, I am treated to my first experience of the Julian 'speech play', although it was only a minor glimpse.

The board read two hearts, and Julian led for 2,800. Sammy Cheung (pictured) quickly called.

On the turn, Julian once again came out firing, this time deep reaching for a column of 10 to 15,000 to put his out-chipped opponent all in.

Squirming in his seat, Sammy stated, "I ain't flushing."

"I'm relieved to hear that," replied Julian.

Eventually Sammy folded, and was shown a for his troubles.

Play has really slowed but Anthony Shields has just doubled up his stack to 12k having shoved from middle position before being called by Kareem Jomeen's whilst Shields could only muster .

A two spades board later though and it was the short stack that was celebrating, whilst Jomeen utter the internet player's typical cry of "I run so bad," as he stack his remaining 500, 100 and 25 chips into a meeker stack of around 6k.

Harry Zammit (pictured) is out, and exited in rather unfortunate circumstances too. All in with ("Oh, I'm ahead"), Harry was looked up by David Paul who had . Whilst the board looked good, the river wasn't, and following a brief collective gasp from the table, Harry picked up his belongings and left the cardroom disgruntled.

The board reads and Womble checks, Rob Sherwood bets 3.5k and Womble now makes 8.5k. But Rob Sherwood moves all-in. A deep sigh from the Womble and eventually he says, "Ok, I'll give you credit for a set of eights" and passes.

I think Rob has to have Quad Kings with a Royal Flush redraw minimum here to make this move...

One of the dealers here brought me cake as a present for letting her check her emails during the break.

Everyone else in the pressroom is bitter. I am full of cake.

Chompy's challenge of the day:

10pts if you ask Anto Farkas how those pesky Duke boys are doing
10pt bonus if you do it with both thumbs in the air and wear flares
