dealer's choice tournament
«
on:
September 05, 2008, 06:12:14 PM »
next week I will be taking a step into the unknown and playing in my 1st dealers choice tournament.
I'm assuming it's NLHE/PLO rather than lots of games as all dealer buttons at the venue have hold 'em written on one side and omaha on the other but not 100% sure.
so assuming it's HO and assuming my edge or lack thereof remains the same whichever game I choose, which should I go for when it's my selection?
when shortstacked am I choosing hold'em so I can shove?
anything else?

it's probable that if it is Hold em/omaha both will be pot limit, so won't make a difference when you're short stacked. I'd get a feel for the play first and then pick the game where you think you have the biggest edge over the table.

played the mixed PLO PLHE at the WSOP this yr and it's much more advisable to be more aggressive in the PLO, where hold em players are less comfortable. Same when short, push in the PLO, if u get called you're never far behind

were you not paying attention in that omaha lesson I gave you in nottingham? 3 diff suits giving me a single flush draw obv as opposed to quad suited when I have none.

got this one all wrong. not a HO tourney at all, it did exactly what it did on the tin and was dealers' choice. well pot limit omaha, 7 stud, crazy pineapple, double flop HE, and NLHE.
all went wrong for me playing crazy pineapple when holding A J 7 on a J 7 x flop my brain went into meltdown and told me I had either A7 or AJ and completely missed the fact that I had 2 pair, threw away the 7 and lost to slowplayed KK when I should've won a big pot. very embarrassing but a great tourney

CP plays same as HE except you get 3 cards and choose 1 to discard face down immediately before the turn is dealt
double HE same as normal HE but 2 boards are dealt at the same time and you play both boards. after betting is complete the winner on each board takes 1/2 the pot. you see showdowns a lot more than in normal HE
