local self dealt casino game

im supershorty stack in the sb with  ...all limp to the button, who calls ( the dealer and local pllayer )

I shove all in...BB folds..and dealer goes to deal the flop...." whoa " says I..." there are no callers? "........ " yeah " ,she says " i called"....

At this point i look down to see that she had scooped my cards as well as the BB's into the muck........doh..

so 5 minutes of hilarity insues, she asks what do we do here..

1) I win the pot was rejected...damn ( with a smile on my face i may add,you gotta try though )

2) split the pot was rejected..

3) the TD was hanging around, and I threatened to get the police if was asked to leave and my hand was declared dead ( I f he did say this then fair enough as this is the actual ruling I believe..lol )

No...none of the above was applicable

4) the solution was to secretly tell the TD my hole cards and he went into the muck and retrieved em

she flipped over and i made a boat and went on to cash..happy days

terrible, you now cant compalain about any other rulings or angle shooters. 3 is the correct (harsh) ruling if it was the other way around you would be complaining if you were the person you doubled up through.

I should add,the discussions took place with a sense of humour, the dealer was feeling pretty lousy at having made a mistake.....( i really tryed to split the pot )

but i was thinking what if SHE was the angle shooter,,that would have been class..and enforced rule numero 3

If the dealer is the other player involved in the hand, and it was the dealer's mistake to muck your cards, how on earth can punishing the SB be the correct ruling??

Surely this ruling is just an angle-shooter's dream in a self-deal game.

This is one of the reasons I avoid self-deal games like the plague.  I'd much rather pay slightly too much juice and have it self-deal.

What was the buy-in to this tournament bhoywonder?

Something very similar happened to me in a self dealt casino game. I was allowed my cards back if I knew exactly what they were but because I'd shoved as soon as I saw paint I didn't know the suits, just that they were JK and both black.

Lesson learnt. When you've got chips in the middle guard your cards until the pot is pushed towards someone.

Nice result this time though  Grin

I don't understand how anyone can think that the dealer has made a mistake.

It is the player's responsibility to protect their hand at all times.

Within reason.

Bhoywonder has gone all-in, so can't keep a chip on his cards. The dealer has called his all-in, so is well aware he is in the hand. How anyone can think the dealer has not made a mistake is beyond me.

Surely if cards are behind the line that should be protection enough.

Do you just sit back and leave them lying around on the table?

Your hand is dead and the last remaining player in the hand takes the pot.

There's never a situation where you -can't- protect your hand, in my opinion. That you forget/fail to do so is your own fault. Not going to comment on the rest because I don't agree with bad sportsmanship, particularly when you already said that you know it to be the correct ruling and tried to put added pressure on the TD by coming out with refusing to leave and phoning the police over a mistake that is yours.
