I've been watching this on and off this season for the first time, and I'm just about beginning to get it, now that the seasons nearing the end.

Last nights game when the White Sox beat Detroit was triffic.

White Sox went 7-0 up with John Danks pitching, then when he handed over to the 'pen Detroit quickly came back to 7-7 with Thames hitting a grand slam for the Tigers.

Cue lots of panic.

Then up steps  Dewayne Wise ( a hero's name if ever there was one ) to smack a grand slam of his own.

Great stuff.

not last night but I guess you're thinking of Lee going 22-2, the first to go 20 clear for many years a couple of nights ago

or could've been the cubs' first no hitter in 36 years. not the biggest news though as I'd imagine most other teams have had one in that time

first number is the number of wins (games over .500) he's pitched, 2nd number is the number of losses.

the news story was him being the first in ages to win 20 more than he's lost (incredible as he was put back into the minor leagues last year for being crap) although a quick google tells me you only have to go back to 1990 to find the last player to do this so the story you saw was probably the cubs' no hitter

Yeah, Zambrano pitched a no hitter for the Cubs against the Astros.  They showed the final innings last night, and whilst he pitched fine for the first two outs, he was bricking it for the last one.  It does seem to be a big thing to them though.  Over history they've had 13, with 8 since 1900.  They had two in 1972, from different pitchers.

The first ever no hitter at a neutral ground, and the 2nd of this season in the majors.

The Mets and the Padres have never had one.  And the Giants haven't had one since 32 years ago.

Gooooooooooooooooo google
