Agreed about the newspaper. News of the World in the background can only add to the authenticity. Also bottles of sauce need to be plainly on view. Claire loses marks for this mistake. If someone could get a red and a brown bottle like the ones you find in a cafe that would be excellent.

Good effort. 8/10.

I have decided to get on the band wagon and make an attempt at a quality fry up.

In order to make the perfect breakfast I decided that I needed a perfect kitchen. I have therefore got the builders in to knock half my house down so that I can have an extended kitchen with enough space to work.

Once this is done I believe that I will have the perfect environment for making a fry up.

Unfortunately it's not going to be ready for 4 months. This does give me the advantage of seeing what I'm up against and what my oppos have done before me.

Watch this space in Feb '09.

Can you not go to a friend's house. This would be similar to the FA using The Millenium Stadium while Wembley was being built.

I might do for a few friendlies as a warm up for the big game.

I'm booked in to the new kitchen for first use.

I don't want a westlife concert sneaking in before me and taking the glory.

Stunning effort by Claire. Obv not perfect, but then nothing ever is.

When marking, I always assume a perfect 10 and work from there.

First, plate size. Not a serious fault unless you are eating somewhere that has a dog capable of getting to the bits that fall on to the floor before you do. -1 =9

Only 1 fried egg. Major felony. (Shame cos the one that is there is almost perfectly cooked) -2.5 =6.5

Portion sizes. Too many beans, not enough mushrooms -1 =5.5

Addition of square sausage +1 = 6.5

Potato scones +1 = 7.5

No fried bread or hash browns -1 (Would have been more but the tattie scones saved you) =6.5

Absence of sauce or newspaper (if it's not in the pic it didn't happen) - 0.5 each so =5.5

General standard of cookedness, i.e bacon crispness, sausage brownness, egg sunny side up and unburstness etc, +1.5 =7

Overall presentation and total physical mass +1   So a grand total of 8/10 points.

Very impressive, well done Claire.

PS- Your marks are not set in stone and could be improved. I am bribeable and susceptible to tampering.

Am I the only one in thinking how sad that Monkey looks?

It must be in a zoo somewhere.

I am guessing the second one is pregnant.
