Wiki on Bent -

"Bent was a supporter of Arsenal, and used to have a season-ticket at Highbury.[2] He was handed a formal warning by police in June 2004 after he was alleged to have shot a 12-year old with a pellet gun.[3]"

lool  all strikers go through a purple patch where they can do no wrong........this is Bents time.......good luck to the lad,but if Spurs think he is the man to get them 20-30 goals per season then i am afraid they are very much mistaken.

unless we base it on evidence that is. before joining spurs and being played oop or sat on the bench he played 2 seasons of premiership football in a shit team with very little service and still managed 37 goals as he was allowed to run off the last defender.

with the service he'll get at spurs and harry playing him in position I think he'll now show himself to be the quality player I watched for those 2 years

i hope he does turn out to be the striker you think he is,i am not posting just to have a go at Bent,i actually think he is a decent player, but in my opinion,he is never going to be a striker Spurs will be able to rely on to win them games season in season out.

Amazing turnaround by Redknapp

but surely the Spurs players should be professionally extremely embarrassed by their gutless displays under Ramos (and some of them before that under Jol) only to turn it on as soon as Harry arrives?

Sure HR must be a great motivator, and some moves such as playing Modric in the right spot are contributory...

but the players.....just show how temperamentally deficient they were before Redknapp arrives.

but what's your reason for thinking he's not that player? if you look at the 5 seasons he played before juande ruined him for a season he hit 93 goals. with the 11 he's hit this season by early november that's quite a purple patch.

and without wishing to bok him he never gets injured

spurs will finish mid table, a place they would have finished under ramos as well imo. redknapp has galvanised what he has there which is a fairly decent squad but they are still lacking plenty needed to challenge the big boys on a consistant basis imo.

bent may not be the greatest player in the world but he knows where the goal is thats worth plenty

The gap between everton in 7th and Sunderland who are second bottom is a mere 6 points.  With the players they've got, a top-half finish is a probable imo.  But they're obviously way off competing with the top 4.  The tightness across the league should make it interesting this season.  For the detractors of the premiership, the gap between the top 4 and the rest of the league is still very evident.

yes but that's 5 years played in shit teams with no service rather than spurs' midfield

to give you an idea of how highly thought of he is by people who've watched him week in, week out; about a month ago charlton were in takeover talks with zabeel, a deal that would've given us more money than man city. no-one really believed that the deal would go through but obv that didn't stop discussions on the forums about who we'd like to see at the valley if we had ridic amounts of transfer funds and could get anyone we wanted. first choice on most peoples list was darren bent

I think the Charlton fans list is the only list Bent would come top of.

because we're the only ones to have seen him at his best in position

as I'm bored I just decided to check how he compares to other english strikers. in the 3 and a bit seasons he's spent in the premiership he's scored more than all but 1 of england's main 4 international strikers. only rooney has outscored him, defoe, crouch and owen all suck

Owen has been injured, Defoe not been played and Crouch offers far more to a team. To be outscored by Rooney is quite bad considering Rooney's last two seasons.

Bent is quite easily 5th out of these five in terms of who I'd pick for England.

Owen has been injured

yep, and bent never is, that is a big reason why I would prefer bent at my club

Defoe not been played

he's played more games than bent over that period

Crouch offers far more to a team.

agreed but I think spurs need a goalscorer more than anything right now (but crouch playing with bent could be awesome)

To be outscored by Rooney is quite bad considering Rooney's last two seasons.

that's a strange one. most people are bad then on that basis seeing as rooney scored 41 in those 2 seasons

Bent is quite easily 5th out of these five in terms of who I'd pick for England.

I agree and haven't claimed any different. that might change after a good run at spurs but is certainly the case at the moment

Trust me mate, we wouldn't have finish anywhere near the mid table.

  • unbeaten against the sky 4 and Citeh, but I take your point.

LOL at Booder. I would rather have Bent then Robbie Keane any day of the week.
