Here's another one, if you want ice cubes, quickly, fill the tray with boiling water, no need to thank me...

Don't fill it though. You'll spill it onto your hands and scald yourself as you try and fit it into the packed freezer that needs defrosting...

Prop bet:

How many Blondes turn up at the next bash unable to pick up cards due to having no skin left on their fingers?

I'm boiling the kettle now!

For the record.  I didn't damage my freezer.  That information was courtesy of my neighbour who called to keep me company during the task.  Her freezer wasn't as fortunate.

Is that for real or do I need to get me coat?

It's real.

ya, can't remember the science behind it but I think it's the same thing that makes stuff defrost quicker if you run cold water over it rather than hot

Nice to know.
Does it also make your ice cubes freeze clear?

My only ice related useful fact is......
If filling a bucket/bin/wheelbarrow full of icey water for drink chilling purposes adding salt will keep it colder longer.

The ice that builds up in your freezer that you want to remove is deionised water, which is the same thing as distilled water.  So it's more pure to drink, or even to thaw and then use for your ice cubes!

Groan, mine needs doing too.

Should I do it before the girlfriend moves in next month, or wait and hope she does it later?

are you for real? get her to do it when she moves in!!!!!!

Got as far as reading this post ... Thread is ended here imo.

try telling my Dad that - we ran out of ice cubes so he chipped out a bit of the ice from the freezer - he was fine with a chunk of it in his glass till it melted enough to reveal the little fish his son had put in the freezer and forgot

You can get away with hot water - boiling is just asking for trouble.

I hope Mr Laxie appreciates it.

I assume we're talking about the same ice cube trick.

Need ice cubes first.  We can discuss tricks after.  I'm more concerned about tonight's drinks at the minute.

1st Mojito going down nicely.  Cheers!
