8/11 is huge on manutd, available at boylesports and skybet. I price the match up 6/1celtic 11/4 draw 2/5 man utd. For some reason the bookmakers underprice celtic and rangers at home vs decent opposition. Yeah the atmosphere will be electric, but the united players will buzz off this. The two managers don't get on and im sure fergie would like to stick it in gordon's eye. The teams are just miles apart in terms of class and experience. Thoughts...

Celtic's home record in CL is immense. We are due a result this year against someone I hope its the morra but if i was a betting man I'd be taking the draw.

Man U have Arsenal early Saturday i think so might be worth waiting for the team news. I reckon a tight game and 1-0 to Man U.

If Sheridan plays we can cause a problem or 2 which is more than we did at OT.
They should be favourites but unlike our 1st home game at least we'll be up for it and they won't sit in front of their own goal.
2 home wins then over to Aalborg to see if we can make it through again.

The home stats for the last five seasons in qualifying stages and last sixteen are as follows. I've highlighted the results against the biggest teams (i.e most comparable with Man Utd):
2008/9 P1 W0 D1 L0
2007/8 P4 W3 D0 L1 (beat AC Milan 2-1 in the group stages lost to Barcelona 3-2 in the knockout)
2006/7 P4 W3 D1 L0 (beat Man Utd 1-0 in the group stages drew 0-0 with AC Milan in the knockout)
2005/6 Did not qualify
2004/5 P3 W1 D1 L1 (lost 3-1 to Barcelona and drew 0-0 with AC Milan who were the pot 2 team)
2003/4 P3 W2 D1 L0 (drew 0-0 with Bayern Munich in the group stages)
I agree Utd are favourites, but I don't think the stats favour them as much as you do. As Josedinho says it could also depend on the team Fergie goes for.

8/11 would be huge if United had to win the game and didn't have Arsenal on Saturday lunch time, as it stands I wouldn't touch this game with a barge pole. Everything will depend on how United approach the game, they could be happy to not lose, certainly think Fergie will be focussed on Saturday. Any animosity he has for wee GS won't influence how he approaches this game.
If I did had make a prediction for tomorrow I'd back a draw.

Sadly I fear the worst for Celtic tonight. Yes our home record is fantastic but the game is not played in the past it is played in the here and now. Man Yoo are are far better side than they were even 2 years ago.
It's not impossible for Celtic to win and 6/1 on the home win is probably decent value actually but being realistic United should win this with a bit to spare.
Celtic's biggest chance is Man Utd thinking they just need to turn up (wouldn't be the 1st time an english team has done this with Celtic and got gubbed) and of course Boruc, Brown, McGeady & Nakamura playing out their skin.
But the fact remains that United have a better player for every position on the park than Celtic so they should win.
