Playing against the 'check dark'

I am after some thoughts on how people play against someone who has 'checked dark'

I recently played two hands that were very similair,and i'm not sure i played either very well. The first was a £300 deepstack,18 left 11 get paid,i am slightly below average but certainly not desperate. I raise the button with tens into the chip leader's bb who was very aggressive,he calls and 'checks dark'. Flop was Kxx, i bet and get re-raised,i decide to wait for a better spot and fold.

The second hand was a £50 1 rebuy or add on,final table,9 left 5 get paid. Again i'm slightly below average,but the stacks are nowhere near as deep.Blinds 300/600 I raise to 1800 on the button with JJ, bb calls and 'checks dark',flop Qxx,remembering the other hand i check behind,turn brings a 3rd heart (i have ) bb checks again,i bet 3k and get re-raised all in which is another 6k to me. With fifth place only being just over 'money back' i feel i am commited,although i'm probably not beating a lot,i call and he has flopped a set of three's. (he has played this pretty badly too imo)

Looking back at the two hands,i was probably in front in the first,and not beating much in the second,but taking stack sizes into consideration,i don't really regret any action,except maybe not checking the turn in the second hand. Neither flop texture was perfect but both were far from the worst.

As well as opinions on the hands,i'm after opinions on playing against the 'check dark' on various flops,and also what hands you would consider 'checking dark'

i would never ever consider checking dark or betting dark. both are seriously dumb moves. i would check back more flops (both w strong and mediorce hands) because the type of player that does this is dumb and will spaz out more. hand one i probs wouldnt cbet, as its a great flop for bluffraising and you cant stand much heat. w like 77 i would be to protect fosure but 1010 is too strong to risk getting blown off of.

Not sure I'd advise it though, things can become too tricky....

Saw Juanda do it once in WSOP after the turn moving all-in against Negreaneau, but Neg. had a flush draw so if he hit the river he'd have snap called and in that situation it was kinda stupid

Check dark is often weak, but I utilise it occasionally to try and gain back some position.

I'm not sure I'm going anywhere with TT against Mr over aggressive, but nothing much you can do 2nd hand with stack sizes...

If it's heads up just check dark straight back at him. If there's anyone else in the pot just treat it as a normal check and play your cards.

I personally use the check dark in multiway pots only and only when I've got an 'improver' hand, 45s, 22 etc. where I've seen a cheap flop from the blinds and have no interest in the hand if I miss.

If you have any decent hand then like Alex says the check dark is just dumb.

If someone checks dark, just check dark as well and then bet out of turn in the dark on the turn before the flop is dealt. Then, before he has a chance to act, announce you're betting in the dark preflop on the next hand as well.

I did it in a home game. Playing 25/50p, i opened utg to £2 with  . ChipRich made it £6.50 so i called and i checked in the dark.

The flop came    and he bet £9.50. I minned to £19 and he passed  face up.

nice brag. try it v a player though imo, live players are pretty bad. if chiprich played online a bit he wouldnt be so easy to bully.
