ok ok, I don't want a festival stalker ready to attack me for an unpaid 50p wager and forum ribbing! lol

Perhaps we'll have a game when jon plays ariston and then let the winners play off like the stars 4-person heads up jobbies?

According to the WHU website all second round matches are played today.

But whether that's correct or not is anyones guess.

Good pass.Party Poker paying money to sponsor the event plus the tv money yet nothing added to the prize fund.As long as players keep supporting these events in search of ego boosting results and tv appearences it will not alone remain the same but get gradually worse as organisers realise that they can make huge money from poker players egoes.

On the whole you are right.

But this event has an excellent structure and is well organised.

I will definitely not play one of the crap shoot single table satellites (poker million, BPO etc) unless I win a seat or get put in.

The "sponsors" should add money to the prize pool.

At the moment Barry Hearn is getting richer from televised poker tournaments and giving precisely zero back to the players.

well said Keith!
I believe poker should become more like golf and motor racing where the players compete for sponsors money rather than there own as the sponsors are deriving great benefits from players winning the tournaments associated to their names but they actually contribute very little to.  That would mean setting up rankings and regulating which players play in which events accoring to status and rankings but the game needs it.

All matches are being played today I think. Isabelle was out barring a jack on the river but guess what the river was? She now has the chip lead in what is turning out to be a great match.

If players were to compete for sponsors money, and not risk any of their own it would take a lot of the edge /excitement away from the game IMHO.
I believe it would lead to the same faces week in week out playing in comps, and how would new faces break into the "Elite" at least the way things stand at the moment, if you can afford a ticket, you are in the raffle.

I do agree with that Kev but there needs to be a balance.  The sponsors at the moment are piggy-backing the game and benefiting without much input.  Alright - they provide the odd trophy, t-shirts, some chips and a few flyers but is that really enough to warrant being the main 'sponsor' of an event? - they should at least match 50% of the prize pool or something!!
