I am having the week completely off junior. I will not be picking up a card or playing online before new orleans next week. I do have my sources in Barcelona watching closely though.

Surely the sponsors dont just turn up on the off chance that they may be allowed in.... they must have to pay for the privilige of displaying their merchandise and company in a casino, so therefore perhaps it is the casino's themselves that should be adding to the prize funds, as they will be making on the side action and house games and restuarant takings that must surely rise during festival weeks.

another very good point Kev.  I am starting to think your not as dumb as everyone tells me you are  Wink Smiley

Either way - the sponsors and / or casinos need to start adding the value or people will go elsewhere.  There are so many comps to play in these days people will start to pick and chose and value will be a big consideration!

the "sponsors" are sponsoring teh tv compnay not the tourny itself thats where the problem lies,

the tv companys should be adding the money to the event, but they know as much as we know that poker needs the tv cameras there to add a little bit of interigity to poker to allow it to become more mainstream,

if you look at it this way monday night football in the uk is called FORD monday night football, FORD give sky money so that sky can afford to give the FA monday to show the matches,

pokersite x gives tv compnay y money so it can afford to put poker on tv, tv compnay y should be giving the poker prize pool a boost but they aren't.

this also leaves open for another sponor to come in and actaully sponsor the poker, so we could have the "martell british open" on skys "friday late partypoker.com night

AS well as the rise in takings and side games etc, so does the cost of staff rise. Overtime, extra staff, their hotels, travel, advertising, etc. It's not all a one way street of money coming in. There are definately extra costs involved

Altho I do agree with y'all that someone somewhere should be putting money into comps apart from just the players.

Perhaps I will one day.

A casino can only gain EXTRA money here Yogi, ok thay have the extra costs as you say but they will have these for a normal festival.
Casino's win from the buyin fee, food, drink, and any gambling wins.
TV and sponsors only add to this profit.
