Mclovin' updates and/or puns would be greatly appreciated.

(Stu Rutter and Dan Carter also)

Mr Clarke is turning on the super-aggressive craziness that characterizes most everything about him except his entire personality. Barny Boatman raised to 350 from the hijack, called by both Abhishek Khaitan in the cutoff and John Tabatabai on the button -- but all three laid it down when Action Gary made it 2k from the small blind.

"My table is tough!" laments hatted Stu Rutter, with pictured in-position players Dave Colclough and Sam Trickett proving his point.  But just now the aggressive youngsters all backed off a preflop repop challenge presented by Ariel Adda.  My attention was drawn by Tricket saying, "Will you show if I fold?" repeatedly, while a hefty 3,350 sat in front of Adda.  Stu Rutter had been in there originally, but had gotten out of the way by the time Sam was considering the raise.  It looked like he'd only put in 850, and gave it up preflop.  "I had AK," said Stu, and I, for one, believe him.

A-har me hearties, shiver me timbers, yo-ho-ho and a bottle of...etc!

No idea why that caused me to break into fluent pirate but I was just speaking to Dan and Stu, who are both stationed at the same table.

Dan has had a good start, up to 22k or so at the moment. Much like Samson from biblical times though, all Dan's poker power is in his curls. Remove or straighten the hair and suddenly he can't play for toffee. Seriously.

Here he is though, curls intact, and stack run up to 22,000.

A few chip counts from just before the break...

James Akenhead: 10.5k
Marc Goodwin: 24k
Tim Flanders: 23k
John Tabatabai: 23k
JJ Hazan: 19k - after flopping quads and getting paid by a kind gent who kept betting into him.

"Yayyy!!!"

John Tabatabatabatabatabai has just now taken down an enormous pot. I only caught the end of it and thus am not entirely sure how this came to pass, but on the river Tabatabai turned over pocket sevens for a set and Mats Gavatin mucked; Tabatabai briefly wandered off, probably to celebrate privately where no-one could hear him cackle, and is now on over 35k. Mr Gavatin is down to 11k.

Tbh that's not what I'd call that particular gesture.

Stu also mentioned to me how tough his starting table was and with Sam Trickett, Dave Colclough and Dan Carter numbered amongst his tablemates, he may have a point.

He's his usual chirpy, bubbly self, although he has donned a rather strange piece of headgear today.

"People were always making fun of my scarf. Well now they can make fun of my hat!"

To be honest I think Stu's fears of mockery are unwarranted. He looks pretty cool and even if he finds himself the target for hat-related abuse, he will always have these guys to help him out.

(Watch out Stuart Nash (hiding in the bushes) doesn't snare you in his net though!)

Here is Stu's table-partner Sam Trickett.

Tony "Ginger" Phillips has dropped a little to around the 10k mark. He called a 1.5k bet from Ctrl V Of The Day contender Tore Lukashaugen on the river of a  three clubs board, but mucked when Lukashaugen turned over for a higher full house than the one quite obviously on the board.
