Mel Lofthouse is gleaming like a Cheshire Cat in a vat of cream, her jubilation coming in the form of a recent double through. Hitting top pair with Q-J on a queen high flop, Lofthouse was able to fend off a flush draw in the shape of John Burke's A-4 suited. She now boasts a stack of 13,500.

Italian stallion Cristiano Blanco has taken a hit courtesy of Joe Whittaker (pictured). Blanco had his man all in with versus , but was unable to bend his opponent sideways and stick it in his other eye as the board came a clinical d . Whittake now on 12,000, whilst Blanco still running strong with 30,000.

Billy Ngo has busted out a player, so quickly, that DTD had removed him from the seating plan before I could find out who it was. I can tell you it was with against though on a 5-6-9-7-T board.

Pete Linton has suffered a setback, he bet 6,100 on the river of a board against Robert Whatsize...it was half of his remaining stack, since you asked.

Whatsize (I've just told you!) made the call with , a good call as Pete could only show . Back to the Linton drawing board then...

John Perrin is a recent casualty to be wheeled into the emergency room. K-K versus A-K on a subsequent 4-2-6-3-9 board. Peter Semmens' was the man holding the stretcher. He jumps to 31,000.

I've always said that about George Clooney. The resemblance is uncanny.

A remarkable hand just took place at the far end of the room, a multi-way limped pot finding it's way over to a short-stacked Keith Farr in the small blind who pushed all in for 3,000. A bizarre domino effect then occurred where Richard Berridge shoved for 4,800, Liaquat Javed flat-called, and so did Adam Connell and Howard Plant leaving an incredible five players in the hand and a pot already bulging at the seams.

As Simon Trumper's microphone enticed a flurry of spectators like the pied piper of poker hands, the players proceeded to cautiously check down an Two Clubs board, Plant showing for top pair, but being pipped by a gnat's testicle hair by Javed who scooped with . As Farr revealed and departed, he was quickly followed by a despondent Berridge, whilst O'Connell simply mucked. Meanwhile, Nick Hicks, who was seemingly the only player not in the hand, revealed that he would have "took the lot with A-6".

Nevertheless, Hicks released his hand preflop, allowing Javed to win what in the end was a mammoth pot. But whilst all and sundry were amazed by the hand, a cool, stoic Javed simply raked in the chips with the nonchalance of Fonzarelli picking up the ladies.

At the other end of the room as this hand was announced, I was watching the Billy Ngo, James Mitchell, John Eames table. When the announcement of this hand came on, they just burst into laughter.

One of them (I can't remember which) said, "Over here we're folding set vs set and over there they're stacking off with top pair deuce kicker..."

Big up to Simon Trumper by the way, who is going around and announcing the action of any major hand on every table. He's pretty much being doing this all day whenever an all-in or huge pot has turned up.
