I've been invited to go on a 2 week 'working holiday' cruise next August.  'Working' in that we have to prepare lectures about the places we'll be visiting for the passengers.  I've been given Gibraltar.  I'm sure I'll find plenty thanks to Google, but was hoping for some 'local knowledge' if anyone has it.

Little known facts
Best places to go
Avoid this

That kind of stuff.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!

gib's well weird. you're minding your own business strolling along the road from the border town of la linea and suddenly a plane will land on the road you were just on. scares the shit out of you if you're not expecting it.

useless fact- I'm the only person ever to visit gib and not go up the rock or see any apes

just remembered a great story from about 5 years ago. a group of royal marines were due to practice beach landings on a gibraltan beach, unfortunately they got slightly lost and actually invaded spain by mistake

No need to thank me.

Little known facts - there aren't any, because all the 'little known' facts will be repeated ad nauseam by the gib tour taxi drivers.

The monkeys are in fact barbary macaques. It was said that when the apes leave gibraltar, so do the british. After WW2 there were only a few apes, so Churchill had another 16 breeding pairs shipped over from morocco.

Best places to go - the new ocean village development with shops, restaurants, casino etc although if I'm being perfectly honest, the best place to go in gib is actually spain.

Avoid? Main street - alternating tat, leather, jewellery, overpriced electronics shops.

You'll rarely get trouble there - it's such a small place that everyone knows everyone.

PM me your msn and I'll chat to you on there....

Gatso - thanks for the donations and pleasure to meet you fella
