Hi chaps,

Need a bit of advice - my online game is considerably different from my live one - and i want to be able to translate it into my live one - which i consider to be rather staid at times. However I always seem to balk at doing things live that i would have no hesitation doing on line.

Any suggestions other than " grow some?"

The only real solution is to play a lot of live poker. Be aware though, llve and on line are, and always will be, two different animals.

Inherent problem with female poker players they dont play the same live as they do online, i dont really know why, i think women embarrass easier and therefore tend to make less moves lest they think they might look silly.(which just isn't the case at all)

Practice, play live more and the more comfortable you are with it the more your online game will come through.

Piffle!

Take 100 random female players and 100 random male, and overall the standard of the girls will be streets ahead.

lol, yeah alright!

I'm not talking about seasoned pro's here am i?

If you're talking about 100 men and women that dont play live much and have come into the game through the internet and are of comprable ability then the men will adapt so much better to the live game.

impossible to make such generalisations either way surely, without doing some kind of research?

At the risk of sounding repetitive, piffle!

With the same level of experience, live or online, the women would be better overall.

The main difference between live and online is that you get more good players online. There are plenty of bad ones but you are more likely to be put to the test online when you raise than live.

Don't take this to mean that there aren't any good live players because there definitely are.

You need to be careful not to play too many hands. There is no reason to play any less or more than online but because it's so much slower live you can easily find yourself playing twice as many without even realising.

I would say that in a live 9 handed game you're looking at 1 orbit every 16 to 20 minutes whereas online you can probably quarter that number. Therefore if you are playing 3 hands every orbit online which is 1 every 90 seconds or so you could easily get bored and frustrated live where it's every 5 minutes and think that you're not playing enough when in fact you are doing no different.

Play too many hands and you'll lose you edge when it comes to bluffing because people will notice.

I'd recommend trying to act like a scared woman who doesn't know what she's doing. Make a few string bets, throw in single chips then announce raise afterwards etc. and don't tell anyone that you play thousands of hands online. Look for the active players because they'll be bullying you. You can start to pick off their bluffs with the odd 3 bet here and there and they'll always think you've got the goods.

Easy pickings.
