with a tie Gatso, crist its your sisters wedding ffs

lol yeah you need a tie, what a Q.

you also need to know whether you should wear shoes or if your lonsdale slip on trainers are good enough?

in response to these 2 comments, I truly have no clue what etiquette is at a uk wedding. I've spent most of my life outside of the UK in countries where people would never consider wearing a tie to a wedding. you'd get the odd person wearing one but they'd always turn out to be the local oddball.

at my nephew/godson's christening I wore jeans and a t-shirt as did his father and this was normal but I'm thinking that wouldn't really be acceptable over here.

guess I'd better go to the shop in the morning

who has a wedding in between christmas and new year, does she hate the whole family?

yeah, tell me about it

I agree with Tikay on this one.  I dont like how we are all becoming so casual, weddings=ties.

I have a tie the missus' mother bought me for xmas you can have... not sure if her mum thinks I'm gay...

If they've said it's a 'hat wedding' you should wear a hat. A poker cap would be acceptable.

Have you got any cable ties laying around that happen to match your new suit, at least then you have made some sort of effort.

My parents got married on Boxing Day, 1969.

Yeah, I've no idea why either. Not like it was a shotgun or anything. Try finding an anniversary card 2 weeks before christmas. And having to buy one more pressie. Grrr.

I like to do the dual bowtie thing.

You get the fake bowtie to save you the hassle of tying the thing.
You get a real bowtie of the same colour so you can shift to the untied look later on the evening.

get a bow tie, then you can undo it and wear it hanging down when you're drunk like the rich handsome blokes in the films do.

then I need a new shirt too, far too much effort. I'm sure tikay would approve of a dickie though

No - a BowTie is wholly inappropriate. A cravat is fine in some circumstances, but not this one.

It's your Sister's weedding, & if we are being serious, it would be a gross insult to her not to wear a Tie.

The fact that many folks no longer attend Weddings & Funerals properly attired is irrelevent. You are not a sheep, do what's right, not what the kids say is trendy.
