Jeremy 'Now Hasn't Got Enough Chips To Make Any Decent' Betts has lost a huge pot to Paul Gourlay.
Steve Brown limped, and Gourlay and Jeremy 'I Will Carry This On All Night, If You Don't Believe Me, We Can Have A Few' Betts came along for the ride with the blinds.
Somehow Gourlay ended up all-in with Jeremy 'I Like To Float Your' Betts calling and Steve Brown getting out of the way.
Gourlay:
Betts:
And now Jeremy 'Now Long Odds In This Hand And Perhaps Not Worth Any' Betts needs a Queen to split.
Gourlay is up to about 300k. Jeremy 'The 4.30 And 5.15 At Uttoxeter Are Worth A Couple Of' Betts is down about 100k.

Daniel Copeland busts in 18th place, winning £985...
He makes a raise to 32k (blinds now 5k/10k ante 1k), and when queried by button Christopher Brammer, makes it known he's got 135,500 behind. Brammer goes all in. The blinds pass. Copeland thinks about whether now is tournament-on-line time:
Meanwhile, Brammer confidently just sits and waits. Eventually Copeland calls, showing
, but Brammer's
are in front, and stay that way, busting the first of the last two tables and increasing his stack yet again.

Pete
Linton
is not known for grinding, he's known for massive accumulation in minimal time and the occasional bouts of copious spewtardery, but today he has really played solid. He's playing about 100k at the moment and without much room to move, he's never really had a big stack, but he's avoided throwing his chips away when most people would've thought he have done so by now. And that in itself is a respectable achievement given to what he can be prone to doing...

Double through for Pete Linton. He moves in preflop, now one of the shorter stacks, but is quickly called by Amer Latif. It's not looking good:
for Linton -
for Latif. Little multisuited rags on the flop.... but the
pops out on the turn and Linton's hand leaps into the lead like a salmon on a spring.
Neither player really reacts, although Latif looks to see how much he's losing out of his stack now - it's not been a good level for him - he's down to 60k.
Linton just says, sotto voce, "Standard?"

And soon after that hand...Tom Kugelstadt raises to 25k and Amer Latif moves in for about 69k total. Call.
Latif:
Kugelstadt:
"Seven!" shouts Kugelstadt
Now there's a fun card....
And Latif survives and is up to 150k.

Pete Charalamabalamalabos raises to 30k, but is irked and has to fold when Ian Gascoigne bumps it up to 105k.
For some reason, the poses in this photo just makes me laugh.

Is Linton muttering "tight is right" under his breath? Saw him use this tactic last time I was on his table at DTD!

Tom Kugelstadt is eliminated in 17th place, wins £985
I picked up the action from when Kugelstadt had announced all-in preflop and Sandeep Shah was considering calling - I think there may have been more than one raise involved in this, rather than a straight shove from Kugelstadt, but it wasn't clear as within a minute Shah had called with
. Kugelstadt, who at one point had a veritable mountain of chips, was now comfortably covered, and held
.
"Keep it low," was the murmur from Shah, or, to be more precise, the little team of railers who've appeared as if from the air itself to cheer him on. The board emerged
which was low enough to bust Tom Kugelstadt, pictured here shaking hands with his opponents as he leaves.
More amusingly, and less magnanimously, Shah's railer manages to sneak him a hi-five and shouts, "Massive! It's a big call you know, bro!" clearly carried away with his bro's runaway success today.
