I'd rather get the pot big when I've got the best of it.

I don't play NLHE cash, its a slightly confusing line by BTN, but are you sure you have the best of it?  If every club, every 3 and every ace get you there (which is presumably the best you can hope for) then you are a small favourite, which technically is getting the best of it I suppose.  But it seems to me that this modest favourtism on this hand is more than offset by the fact that the betting has gone wrong by his shove.  To be truly getting the best of it, I would at least want to engineer the betting in such a way so that it was my shove into a pot with F/E rather than calling his shove.  Calling all ins on the come isn't my favourite pastime, but I accept I come from the nitty side of the fence in cash games.

I know you didn't ask for a hand critique, but I guess that's fair cop if you want to talk about 'hand of the day' each day?  I might very well learn something if my thinking is met with general scorn so i thought I'd thow this in...

Well done Rooks and Trigg.

I know its a lot of money if you were to take the cash but have you both considered playing the ME? You would both be so +EV given the field and its size that even if you sold shares you could be freerolling for a nice % of yourselves.

By the time they win another 2 or 3 seats each I am sure they will end up opting to play the ME, hope so.
Good effort guys

It was a weird line by the button, but by that point even if my Ace wasn't good there was enough money in the pot to call with the flush and gutshot, but not really where I wanted the hand to go.

Would you have lead the flop?

The reason I like the check raise is, I'm going to take down a nice pot a lot of the time on the flop, I don't mind getting it in on the flop because I am likely to be a fave though a small dog some of the time and in this case I didn't think either player was very strong and raised for value, and I was right I guess.

Unless I've got a made hand and the board is really dangerous and multi way I'm almost never leading out when there has been a PF raiser.

I think I probably would have.  Again, not my preferred game for cash so don't play it much, I'm asking questions more than giving answers.  Your reasoning for wanting to c/r is ok, I could easily have played the hand my way and been flatted to death and got to the river with no hand and wish I'd played it your way instead.  Which way to go prob depends on how daft is r/r/r sizing at the table, my aim is to get his stack or win as much as I can without a showdown, so if I donk the flop and he reraises into the right zone, then I pull the trigger and get it in and that's my job done.  If the normal raise sizing is much smaller, (or the stacks a little bigger) then maybe a c/r flop works with some potential to 4b a small 3b.  But the overriding thought when I read the hand was that I am after his stack and therefore wanted to play the hand in the best way for me to get the last meaningful bet in.  when he ships the lot in, it feels like when you have a move-in hand in a live tourny and some prick moves all in out of turn on you - your biggest weapon has been taken away and now you have a choice of calling on a draw or abandoning ship.

I will let someone who knows what they are talking about put me right...

If I knew the original raiser would definitely raise my donk bet and allow me to ship over him then I probably would have lead out, but I'm not how often he would, whereas I know he is going to cbet a large % of the time so I took this route instead. It's a pretty weird situation, I was just talking to tommyc on the phone and he was saying in a tournament he would be leading out because he wants to get it in.

But being in cash where the stacks are deeper and in this situation the pf raise was small we could struggle to do that.

I dunno, I'm not 100% convinced with either line so far.

James "Linux" Moody has dedicated a small piece of his own private land for a fellow Shrewdie.

Linux, who is in the enviable position of having his own house, all to himself, was redoing his patio and has elected to leave a mark in the concrete in honour of none other than ChipRich.

An extremly generous gesture imo, and one which im sure will not go unnoticed.

This will be here forever now, in millions of years time, the people of the earth will still know of "Rich".
