And I call the river jam. In that situation, 5 handed, I can't put down a FH where only AA and Jx is beating me, and I can't see Dwan raising UTG with many hands that have a J in them, so if he has AA then gg.

God, if it's Moorman that squired Annette, any offspring they might produce would just own the internet.
We might as well all give up.

Have you actually seen him play? He raised in this hand with QT..it couldn't be QJ, JT, KJ, J9 could it?

I haven't seen much of his play, no. I agree with what you're saying about his raising range though, but it still doesn't change my decision. If I'm JC Tran, what am I check-calling with on the turn to fold the river? No draws, just 2 pair. If I'm calling the turn because I think I'm ahead, then I have to think I'm good on the river as the 3rd J doesn't help Dwan any more. If Dwan has AA or Jx then gg, but surely if Tran thinks he's behind on the turn then he has to pass as he's drawing to 3 outs?

Errm he has more information on the river, the 2xpot jam, this allows him to change line, especially as his hand is pretty much faceup.
Keith interesting thing is if he thinks about it long enough surely he realises that Durr wouldn't overbet shove the J as he can't call with A so it could only be air.....or did he reach that conclusion and then go 1 level deeper?

As I said, I have only seen shoves on board like this with the nuts (or just maybe AA).
He definitely isn't value shoving an ace.
It's one of the best thought of plays I have ever seen.

Forget the hand, The single best thing about this clip is annette just treating jesse may's hand analysis with the respect it deserves. All those years he's been commentating and he still has no clue whatsoever. Juiced in imo.

the unusual structure of this comp may have had a big effect on the decision here. I'm assuming this is the wednesday game, jc has already had 2 good finishes and knows that a top 2 finish here all but qualifies him for the ft which is the only aim of the first 5 games so this may be a snap pass for him 4 handed whereas normally he'd stop to think. this is effectively a satellite bubble for him
I'm interested to watch this when it airs and see exactly what the overall situation is

[ ] True
Jesse knows the game very well, he is a deep thinker but he has a roll to play on TV, he is supposed to act as Joe Bloggs sitting at home asking a 'dumb' question to the poker pro, setting them up to explain the thought process in a hand.
Of course that is till they get the Devilfish on the show and he just goes on about rooting in the outdraw!

looking forward to "dempsey leads with a set "is he crazy" "its a really weak bet" "will shallow realise he has top set and fold his overpair" "O'my is dempsey calling the raise as a trap or is he unsure his set is good and waiting to see where he is on the turn"

Do you think this hand will inspire lots of copycat attempts at the same move?
If so, this could dramatically affect the dynamic of how these kinds of situations play out.

Stuart Rutter did the same massive overbet on the river to me in a fessie event just b4 xmas when the board was the 2nd nut house..... I just managed to fold after the longest dwell i think I've ever had but felt he'd bullied me out of it... fortunately he flashed the absolutes quickly..
[X] Stuart Rutter is one of the best players I've played against in the last year...
