Misfortune for Darren 'Newportlad' Shallis. Raising to 40k from the cutoff, he saw Colin Young move all-in for an additional 82.5k and made the call with only to run into . He's down to about 130k now, whilst Young is over the quarter million mark.

Matthew Tandy raised to 27k from the cutoff, and Steve Jelinek called from the big blind. A flop followed.

Flop:

Check, check.

A turn:

Jelinek checked, Tandy bet 45k, and Jelinek called.

River:

Both players checked, and Jelinek's elicited a simple muck from Tandy.

Lawrence Gosney has done himself a bit of harm.

With 120k or so in the pot by the river of the three diamonds board, he bet 80k. Jesper Persson disappeared into the tank for a long time, during which someone unrelatedly knocked over a chair. Eventually he called.

"You win," said Gosney and mucked even before Persson had a chance to show him . Persson looked smug, and Gosney is down to 115k.

More Persson Action

Indeed he is a Persson non grata as far as Steve Vine is concerned. Probably. Vine shoved with , and Persson called him from the big blind with .

Board: an excitement-free Two Clubs and we're down a Vine in 17th place.

Persson Getting Jiggy Again

The very next hand, Persson raised to 25.5k from the button, and Frazer Beattie shoved for a total of 117.5k from the big blind.

Beattie:
Persson:

Board: SMACK

Double up for Beattie.

Gurpreet Nagi and Daniel Shelemy have a tussle in the blinds, raised preflop I believe.

three diamonds

Check check.

Nagi bets 30k and Shelemy moves all-in for 63.5k more.

Nagi stares at his opponent for about a minute and says, "Something is telling me to call this." He does and flips over two spades but before anyone can react, Shelemy is only able to show . The river is the . King high is good enough...

"Call of the tournament," says Steve Jelinek.

Dipak Makawana has just won a huge pot from Jesper Persson. All-in preflop with against the Swede's , Makawana ended up victorious after the board came out . Persson is down to just about 200k, Makawana has about 600k now and is the new chip leader.
