What are the assorted sandwichistas opinion of more-ubiquitious-than-Starbucks sandwich outlet Subway?

i guess they are ok, but i would suggest if you like that sort of thing and are in the US you should try either Quiznos or Firehouse. Firehouse are absolutely amazing.

A preference of mine is to take whatever you might have as a proper meal - and just stick it in a sandwich.

off for a pot noodle sandwich

There's a pub in Dundee that serves a roll & mince.

Also I know a lot of guys up here who like a roll with a pie in it  idiot

If we have pie for T and there is some left Darren likes to put it between two BAPS  Wink

Subway butties have been done before ...

BUT

Steak & Double cheese on toasted wholemeal, with lettuce, red onion and mayo is quite clearly FTW !

Crispy home-cured bacon cooked in my black handle-over pan on the fire outside and served on doorstep slices that have been dipped into the hot fat....

Ahh bollocks! It's a stupid thread anyway.

Roast beef and horseradish is my current lunchtime fave, as I'm supposedly on a diet and it's reasonably low calorie.

Previous to that I had mature cheddar, ham (got to be decent ham) and Branston (small chunk) pretty much every weekday for 18 months. Although the sainsburys red onion chutney is very nice in this combo as well.

Proper bread ideally, but given I can only realistically buy once a week, the Hovis Best of Both is pretty nice, and a nod to health there too Smiley.

1. Pot noodles must be the most nutritionally deficient 'food' in the world. Seriously, the stuff I remove from peoples bottoms probably has more minerals and vitamins in it than that rubbish.

2. Best 'sandwich' in the world is small pieces of chicken cooked in the wok, mayonnaise spread on a wrap, salad including tomatoes and possibly cheese on the wrap and hot chicken on top. All rolled up and eaten for lunch. Takes only a few minutes and it's yummy.

Chicken Bacon and Mayo

arrrr yeeeaaaah

This, closely followed by a bacon and brie toasted sandwich. Haggis and HP brown sauce is another fine filling.

Oh, omelette butties rock as well.  Has to be very soft white bread with butter, bit of lettuce, tom sauce, and omelette (ldo).

Toasted mature cheddar & marmite lunchtime quickie.

My favourite is a few slices off the roast beef while it's still warm on white bread with lots of butter and a wee bit of the gravy also still slightly warm.

I even leave a wee bit of room for the sandwich when eating the roast dinner, and there's no need for desert when that's waiting for me.
