I was playing at Gala a couple weeks back and I was wondering what the correct ruling is...The blinds were 300/600 and I had a stack of approximately 9000... I picked up in the cut off position so i raised to 1500 total... The Small Blind decided to look me up,,, flop coming down ... He checked I bet approx... 2500 and again he flatted me... The turn came with and he checked again... I had one 5000 chip left and i threw it across the line... The dealer then tells me its a minimum bet of 600... I had to call over the floor and eventually the bet stood at 5000... SB folded and I was relieved he didn't see the river for 600... However what is the correct ruling in this position... I was sure if I throw over a 5000 chip into the middle thats the bet... However nearly everyone on the table disagreed along with the tournament runner... before he eventually said he'd let it go this time... Any thoughts???

TDA Rule 10:
In limit games, an oversized chip will be constituted to be a call if the player does not announce raise. In no-limit, an oversized chip before the flop is a call; after the flop, an oversized chip put in the pot will constitute the size of the bet.

Trvially easy ruling: it's a bet of 5000.
How their dealers/players/TDs can not know this is beyond comprehension.
And lol at "he'd let it go this time" - nice way to open up the can of worms of "but you let him get away with it". Dear me.

Be carefull at Gala Leeds with the one chip bet! As house rules state that you must announce raise before placing a single oversize chip in the pot as a raise. Daft i know as we all know if you are first to bet post flop then that is an obvious bet! Just beware next time and announce every action as we wouldnt want you to get shafted!!

Still cant beat the one and only time i played at star city.
Unlimited 10 rebuy, I have about 4.5k made up of about 14 chips.
Someone raises, i push my stack over the line. Back then this stood as a call because i had not said raise.

That is correct if you are raising someone must have bet (or put in blinds) before you, so you have to say raise to make your action clear. In OP it was a bet rather than a raise.

that is 100% correct and is the same everywhere op is a different situation and I'm genuinely amazed that anyone would think it should be a min bet, the fact that a dealer thought that is quite worrying

If after the flop you are first to bet and if you want to bet 500 at the 100/200 level then you have to say raise which is stupid!! as you are first to act that should constitue as the ammount bet!! So OP has 5k left and was first to act and placed his chip in...(to us we know this is all in)... but Gala's rule states he had to verbally state his action hence they were going to take it as the minimum bet! I will try and bring this rulling up as its not good!!
