With the different interests & ages of the Blondeites I'm sure there could be some crackers.

Mine first......

Where you see a statue of a famous person on a horse - you can tell how they died from the horse's stance:
  • Both front hooves off the ground - they died in battle
  • One front hoof off the ground - they died from injuries inflicted in battle
  • All 4 hooves on the ground - they died of natural causes

Ancient Chinese artists would never paint pictures of women's feet.

What I hate about some facts...

When they tell you a distance or volume and try to put that in perspective for you as if your tiny mind can't possibly comprehend what the quantity looks like. Instead they make it dafter by comparing it to something completely stupid.

Example - Loch Morar is Britains deepest freshwater lake. It is over 310m deep, that's the same height as all of Rembrandts paintings laid one on top of the other.

coca cola.

John pemberton invented it as a health tonic ( and everyone knows it had cocaine in it), He painted the existing trademark brand on his store and it has always been like so.

he sold the tonic to Asa candler for $2300, ( what a mug!!!! ) and he died pennieless.

Indiana Jones - the original person cast for this role was infact Tom "magnum " Seleck and he pulled out due to other commitments.

The initial funds that created the first apple computer came from selling a calculator and a van. Steve wozniac and stephen jobbs worked out of a garage until they had perfected the first practical home computer.

Bill gates spent $7,000,000 on a garage for his cars.

superted the cartoon was created by a bloke called Mike young.

Count duckula first appeared on Dangermouse ( and he was not a vegiterian )

Joel shuster and jerry siegel who created superman put the S on his chest as a mark of their creation ( s from both theit last names ) no other reason!! ( they too sold their creation for buttons and had to fight to get some royalties, but they both lived in poverty for years after their creation was a success and made millions of dollars for other people.

It was Hitlers idea to start Volkswagen!!!!!!, Probably the only good idea he had.

thats it for the moment

I'm gonna be a stick in the mud here. I don't think this is true.

Unless... you are speaking of a specific time period, a certain type of statue/sculpture, or a certain group of famous people.

Great thread - love it!

The first-known contraceptive was crocodile dung, used by Egyptians in 2000 BC.

The seven wonders of the ancient world were: ... 1. Egyptian Pyramids at Giza ... 2. Hanging Gardens of Babylon ... 3. Statue of Zeus at Olympia ... 4. Colossus of Rhodes - or huge bronze statue near the Harbor of Rhodes that honored the sun god Helios ... 5. Temple of Artemis at Ephesus ... 6. Mausoleum at Halicarnassus ... 7. Lighthouse at Alexandria.

The very first bomb dropped by the Allies on Berlin during World War II killed the only elephant in the Berlin Zoo.

The only things that are white on a polar bear are the teeth & the whites of the eyes - the skin is black & the fur is clear.

The Ace of spades is more ornate than the other aces becasue when playing cards were taxed you had to buy the As sperately from the Government, to ensure the tax was paid.

There are 9 million bicycles in Beijing .. thats a fact, its a thing we cant deny.

We are 12 billion light years from the edge , thats a guess no one can ever say its true.

There are 6 billion people in the world, more or less, and it makes me feel quite small.
