TONIGHT 8.30pm is the super sat.

If we do not get enough runners for a game, then I will pick one name from all those that register for tonights super sat.

That person will get a free entry to the EC monthly comp with full buy ins and juice.

 Cool Cool. very nice

but am in the sat and ready to play.

For me the reason is that i still get the message 'cannot connect to poker server', so for this reason i cant play either these or the blonde league games.

Some good points were made about expenses, however it is a catch 22 situation.  If there were plenty of runners each month then maybe $5 or $10 could be added on to each entry and given as expenses to the winner.  However, if Kev ends up giving the seat away like he might have to tonight due to lack of runners then Blonde presumably would have to foot the bill for the expenses.

I can't make EC this weekend, but will play the sat tonight if I don't go out, presuming I can take cash instead of seat?

I have pulled out any remaining strands of hair I had left over these sats, whatever we do, we cannot seem to get them to run every month ... I thought doing away with the freeroll and adding the freeroll seat to the super sat would have been a good draw ... seems I was wrong.

Equal chance give us 1 free seat a month (Value £380) in exchange for us hosting their section on blonde, they also allow us exclusive rights to online sats for their monthly event.

The first prize in the super sat is $540, once the entry fee is paid it leaves little or anything for expenses.

The feeders are priced so that with 8 runners, 2 players will make the super sat, 3 feeders mean at least 6 people should sat in, leaving 4 spots for people buying straight into the super sat.  Obviously I hoped that the feeders would get more than 8 runners meaning the super sat would run without the need for anyone to buy in directly.

But we struggle to get 1 feeder out of 3 to run, and the main super sat very rarely runs when around 8 players are required. I dont know the solution, I really dont ... we make it clear that if you win and cannot play the event, you can get someone else to play it on your behalf ... either on a % deal or whatever, thats up to individuals to sort out.

I accept that distance/expenses is a big deterrent for those that live miles away from Walthamstow, but as has been said previously, If i upped the buy in to cover some expenses, would that get more people playing, or would it price them out of the feeders.

I will be speaking to the guys at EC later in the week to try and get them to push the online sats harder in the club ... surely that has to be the place where we need to get runners from, as they will be playing the event anyway, so it must make sense for them to play a sat or 2 for it.

I hope tonights sat takes place and we get 2 people at EC from blonde ... but going forward, I am really at a loss on how to make this work.

No cash alternative is available, see my post above for other options Wink

ah OK.  tbh I can't afford to play it on that basis, but will deffo play in months I can make the final.  Hope it runs tonight.  FWIW I agree that pushing it in the club is probably the way forward. Not sure on the etiquette, but might also be worth spamming it on London based poker forums (if there are any).

I don't understand your thinking here kev. how did you think that removing added value from the feeders would make them more attractive to people?

The main complaint from previous inquests was that it was a winner take all sat and that was putting people off.  so someone suggested adding the freeroll seat to the supersat, meaning that 2 seats were on offer.

4 in for tonight anyway, here's hoping

I genuinely think Kev is a bit damned if he does damned if he doesn't here, with regard to what to do with the free seat, whether to add expenses or not

The answer is of course for the club to promote it more

I must've missed that then

fwiw I prefer the way you've done it this month, much better, I just don't think you should be surprised that it's resulted in less people in the feeders

do EC not have a mailing list of their members that you can hit with some good old fashioned kevspam?

For some odd reason I couldnt login last night otherwise I would have played.

I dont normally play the supersat unless I qualify as its a bit out of my price range but with the added value I will give it a bash.

5 in 5 more needed.

here is the real problem for me. I like to travel and play tournaments in different places. I enjoy trying to qualify for the deepstack at DTD, and other events. I would like to have a go at this tournament as well, but

Problem 1 - The tourney is in London, which is a fair distance away. This isnt too much of a problem if you have enough time to organise.

Problem 2 - The actual tourney will start 36 hours after the end of the Sat. This is not enough time to organise

Problem 3 - it starts on a friday. If it was a saturday it would be more popular.

running these earlier and allowing a week from the super sat to the event is an easy fix.

I will make sure i do that for next month

I cant do much about problem 1 & 3
